Hey, they didn’t say it would actually be better, they said it was possible it would be slightly better. Theoretically, it could possibly be slightly worse. Although, it’s hard to imagine it could be worse than it already is.
How do you think I felt as a kid—I looked like my siblings AND like the worst relatives on the wrong side of the family—no way would anyone believe that I was adopted, no matter how often I said it was true. Hoped it was true. Damn parents having sex!
My two older sisters used to fight over which one of them was adopted. I never understood why till I got older, and my oldest sister told me they thought it would make them ‘special.’
Though to be fair, my next oldest sister stood a better chance. Unlike all the rest of us kids, who were born bald and our hair came in white-blond, she was born with a head full of black curls.
Ohhhhh (that’s a loud squeal of DELIGHT!) one of my favorite moments in Regretsy revisited!!! Good times!
I actually loved the cheerful little drawing (though, no, it doesn’t look like Frida, but that was kinda the point). (and it initiated my making and selling some Frida finger puppets).
The exchange with the “artist” was priceless and thus began the phrase “Show me you’re art”.
::breathless:: maybe she’ll return and hate us some more!
I remember this one as well. I liked it. I thought it was cute. Like some sort of character for a museum to introduce children to art. Then the artist got all hurt, and pulled it down.
I still think it is cute.
I’m just really glad somebody finally captured Frida’s bright and happy side. Everybody knows how cheerful she was (it’s captured in all of her art and poetry). Kudos!

July 9, 2012 at 5:03 pm
Oh, you could. Most likely before you reached puberty.
July 8, 2012 at 1:46 pm
Because everyone who knew Frida never saw her without a big smile on her face.

Where in the world is Diego Rivera?
July 8, 2012 at 1:57 pm
If this was a line of portraits of fine artists as painted by small children it would be etsy gold!

Definitely look like Olive Oyl, Popeye’s girlfriend.
July 8, 2012 at 2:37 pm
I actually think this is adorable, despite the period of rage that the seller went through.
I keep thinking I’ll have $45 to buy it but somehow other things keep getting in the way.

I can’t imagine what I said that pushed my comment into the spam filter…
The artist’s profile now says she has a painting on the set of “2 Broke Girls.” I have to watch the show now to find it.

Olive Oyl was never the same after she went to the Wombyn’s Retreat.
July 8, 2012 at 3:47 pm
Damn you, I just thought of an Olive Oyl joke. Kudos for beating me to the punch.
July 8, 2012 at 4:06 pm
