“Perfect for summer,” oh, sure! I know when it’s 120F outside- as it is now- all I can think is “MAN I wish I had me a woolen hat with a bobbly little turdball on top! Especially in a heat-absorbing dark shade!”
I’m currently sitting in my underwear in my apartment because my a/c doesn’t work very well and it’s 107 here in north Texas. I really wish I had a nice wool hat on.
You wouldn’t believe how much the emaciated hipsters around here wear woolen knit caps like these and it’s 109F outside. I wanna go all Cher from Moonstruck on’em!
Eureka!! As I’m sitting in the heat with my toque on, (that’s the fancy name we have for ‘em in Canada) I realize now what I can do with the “brown fur” I have to cut off the back of my little dog every once in a while.
Thanks Etsy, yet again, another fun AND eco-friendly craft project idea.
GodDAMN that looks fluffy. Why couldn’t they have made it in a more pleasing color/level of blob so it doesn’t look so much like the triceratops shit they had to dig through in the first Jurassic Park?
Exactly. When I scanned through the thumbnails, most of the pics looked so gross I didn’t even want to hover my cursor-hand-thing over them, but I actually felt bad for this hat. I would be so sweet in a non-poopy color, or even off-white/natural. As it is, it’s just sad. And icky. And now I feel the need to wash my hands and maybe lysol my keyboard.
It’s just so floofy and looks so soft! I look terrible in those style hats, but I might have been tempted to buy it. If I wouldn’t feel the urge to rummage around in it for lilac berries every time I put it on.
Um…my daughter has been REALLY into the sweet corn this summer. I have taken to hiding the leftovers as soon as I give her her serving so that she won’t see the bowl and ask for more, because I don’t want to change diapers that are 80% corn. Yuck.
I’m a knitter, but I’ve never heard of a knit/knit pattern (which apparently gives items character). Can anyone enlighten me on this or is the seller just full of (s)hat?
I knit hats in the round so in my reality there is no flip. From looking at the pics I figured it was reverse stockinette or maybe garter (it’s hard to tell with that bulky yarn). Either way, I could make something prettier and I’d charge less.
It could be either garter or stockinette stitch. If it were a knit/purl pattern then it would be 1×1 ribbing. Most people would just say “garter stitch” or “stockinette stitch”.
Brown bulky handspun was probably not the best choice for this hat, either.
I”m pretty sure bulky brown [badly] handspun yarn is a bad choice for most things. I know people who spin their own yarn. Weirdly, since they know what the hell they’re Doing with a drop spindle or spinning wheel… it doesn’t change the texture of what they make with the result.

The perfect hat to bring out your inner shit-head!

Reminds me of a pinecone
August 4, 2011 at 2:49 pm
Me, too. Or perhaps a bird’s or wasp’s nest.
August 4, 2011 at 7:52 pm
Same here, though I was thinking this was the least offensive of the bunch so far.

Glad I wasn’t the only one that thought triceratops shit.
Or maybe I’m sad that a hat (that might have been adorable in literally any other color) inspired that reaction from more than one person.

It looks like a fluffy acorn ^_^

So, it’s soft?
August 4, 2011 at 2:56 pm
Two girls one cap.
August 4, 2011 at 2:57 pm
This is a perfect example of Oshidobishi, or,translated, an Asshat… XD
August 4, 2011 at 2:59 pm
“Jesus, Mary, your hair look like shit!”
August 4, 2011 at 3:04 pm
Only FIVE softs – I’m really not positively absolutely completely sure that this is, in fact, soft.
August 4, 2011 at 3:17 pm
this bon bon hat looks like boom boom
August 4, 2011 at 4:37 pm
Or ca-ca?
August 4, 2011 at 3:18 pm
Handmade from superfine dingleberries from my schnauzer’s ass.

How did they get Father Guido Sarducci to write the description? He wouldn’t be caught dead in this.
August 4, 2011 at 4:17 pm
That looks EXACTLY like the inside of the diaper I just changed…..My daughter had raisins yesterday…..a lot of raisins….
August 4, 2011 at 4:30 pm
gawd raisin diapers are the absolute worse, reconstituted grapes anyone?

she means garter stitch ( i hope) knit, flip it, knit, rather than knit, flip, purl

It’s nice that the seller linked to the spinner’s shop, though.

More like a dung-dung hat with dingle berry.
August 4, 2011 at 6:35 pm
So much fiber. So much bulk. It’s a Metamucil hat!
August 4, 2011 at 7:17 pm
All I have to say is that that must have been one big deer.
August 4, 2011 at 7:31 pm
Actually, I’ve thought about it and it seems cozy – it probably looks better when it’s on:
August 4, 2011 at 10:11 pm
This looks like a rabbit poo beehive… on a stick.
August 5, 2011 at 4:41 am
Perfect for Winter AND SUMMER? Fucking hipster moron. I’d scowl at someone wearing a fucking wooly hat in Summer then hope they get heat stroke.
August 5, 2011 at 12:40 pm
The thumbnail actually looked a bit like a ball sack to me.
