By now you may have seen the new “April’s Army” tab at the top of this site. April’s Army is one of the largest teams on Etsy, and is comprised entirely of Regretsy members.
During the last week of each month, participating sellers set aside at least one handmade item to benefit Regretsy’s charity fund. ALL profits go directly to the person in need.
This is our first sale, and it started a few hours ago. I just opened my email and we’ve already had thirty six sales, which is really exciting.
So let me tell you about the person who will be benefiting from this month’s effort:
Hi! My name is Robin Lynne. I am an Etsy seller trying to raise funds to help pay for my boyfriend Jason’s upcoming trips to Johns Hopkins.
Jason was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in April of 2010. He has gone through a Whipple Procedure (ouch! google that one) 2 rounds of chemo and radiation, and his last CT scan was clean! All of this makes him eligible to take part in a Pancreatic Cancer vaccine clinical trial at Johns Hopkins in Maryland.
The average 5 year survival rate of pancreatic cancer patients is less than 5%, but this vaccine has helped many people live 10+ years – and counting!
If you would like to participate in this drive there are three ways you can help.
1. Visit Robin’s Etsy store, and purchase something directly from her (she makes amazing bath and body products). You can also share the link you think you know people who might be interested.
2. Make a direct contribution via Paypal to Jason’s donation page.
1. Visit April’s Army on Etsy and take a look at the handmade merchandise being sold specifically to benefit Jason. A great group of talented sellers have given so generously of themselves, and there are so many wonderful things for sale.
Even if you can’t afford to buy anything or don’t see something you want, take a moment to visit some of these stores and show some love for these sellers, who have been incredibly kind and selfless. And you can always share the link to the April’s Army Etsy store!
I’m now in the process of choosing a recipient for May’s effort. If you know someone who needs help, let me know!

Thanks to everyone for their kindness and support.
