April’s Army

By now you may have seen the new “April’s Army” tab at the top of this site. April’s Army is one of the largest teams on Etsy, and is comprised entirely of Regretsy members.
During the last week of each month, participating sellers set aside at least one handmade item to benefit Regretsy’s charity fund. ALL profits go directly to the person in need.
This is our first sale, and it started a few hours ago. I just opened my email and we’ve already had thirty six sales, which is really exciting.
So let me tell you about the person who will be benefiting from this month’s effort:
Hi! My name is Robin Lynne. I am an Etsy seller trying to raise funds to help pay for my boyfriend Jason’s upcoming trips to Johns Hopkins.
Jason was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in April of 2010. He has gone through a Whipple Procedure (ouch! google that one) 2 rounds of chemo and radiation, and his last CT scan was clean! All of this makes him eligible to take part in a Pancreatic Cancer vaccine clinical trial at Johns Hopkins in Maryland.
The average 5 year survival rate of pancreatic cancer patients is less than 5%, but this vaccine has helped many people live 10+ years – and counting!
If you would like to participate in this drive there are three ways you can help.
1. Visit Robin’s Etsy store, and purchase something directly from her (she makes amazing bath and body products). You can also share the link you think you know people who might be interested.
2. Make a direct contribution via Paypal to Jason’s donation page.
1. Visit April’s Army on Etsy and take a look at the handmade merchandise being sold specifically to benefit Jason. A great group of talented sellers have given so generously of themselves, and there are so many wonderful things for sale.
Even if you can’t afford to buy anything or don’t see something you want, take a moment to visit some of these stores and show some love for these sellers, who have been incredibly kind and selfless. And you can always share the link to the April’s Army Etsy store!
I’m now in the process of choosing a recipient for May’s effort. If you know someone who needs help, let me know!
And click here to like April’s Army on Facebook, and get news, updates and sneak peeks of upcoming inventory!
Thanks to everyone for their kindness and support.

April, you ROCK!
April 25, 2011 at 10:27 am
this is awesomesauce!
April 25, 2011 at 10:28 am
Talking shit and doing good.
April 25, 2011 at 10:33 am
Ya beat me to that comment, Patty! Go April and the Regretsians!
April 25, 2011 at 10:37 am
That’s what Regretsy’s all about.
April 25, 2011 at 12:05 pm
My donated item sold! That makes me happy.
April 25, 2011 at 12:32 pm
Patty I took what you said to heart and put my money where my shit talking mouth is. My Grandmother gave a generous birthday present and after paying rent and a lot of over due bills I thought I’d buy a little something for me. I was going to go to Amazon or the mall or the liquor store but stopped at Regretsy first and lo and behold April decided to be all nice and shit today. So I got me an Etsy account and scored the “Drinkers Medal” not because I like it, because I’ve EARNED it. Whoever that seller is, You ROCK!! Personal note, My Grandfather died of cancer so this cause really does mean a lot to me.
April 25, 2011 at 10:29 am
oh noesOh no. the keep calm and wax on candle is goneApril 25, 2011 at 10:59 am
Sorry, that one got snatched up in the night. I’ll still be selling it in my shop after this month’s charity drive though while I work on something else for next month:) I’d donate more Keep Calm candles but ahs po (can’t even afford the o-r;)
April 25, 2011 at 10:30 am
Sounds like a great cause!
Bajingo is my new favorite euphemism. I’m trying to make it catch on here in Ohio (not much luck so far.) Might have to but that bookmark!
April 25, 2011 at 10:30 am
*buy
April 25, 2011 at 10:31 am
Any word on whether the red-headed stepchild of Vintage will be allowed in? I was all psyched, then I lost interest when I found out my shop wasn’t invited to the party after all and haven’t bothered keeping up since.
April 25, 2011 at 10:35 am
Vintage was allowed!
April 25, 2011 at 10:44 am
I saw a vintage item in the shop last night. Vintage is allowed!
April 25, 2011 at 11:19 am
It is allowed. There was a misunderstanding in the beginning but it’s settled. Sorry if you were left out because of that.
April 25, 2011 at 12:23 pm
Thanks; I’d read post after post for a while checking for info, but I guess I gave up before that correction was made.
April 25, 2011 at 10:32 am
So many lovely things…so little money to buy them with, alas.
April 25, 2011 at 10:34 am
I had to buy the butcher bunny doll — mostly because I was slammed in the NY Times last year for butchering rabbits. Now I have something cute to further justify my bizarre meat-eating hobbies.
April 25, 2011 at 10:36 am
You were slammed for eating rabbits??? WTF?
April 25, 2011 at 10:38 am
Not for eating them — for actually butchering them.
April 25, 2011 at 10:40 am
Well…are you supposed to eat them alive?
I can see that catching on in Japan.
April 25, 2011 at 11:47 am
I… What?
How else are you supposed to get at the tasty tasty meats?
April 25, 2011 at 12:11 pm
What were you doing… chasing after them in the park with a butcher’s knife???
April 25, 2011 at 7:56 pm
@picassosfist
Do you live near Winnipeg- Thunder Bay area? I need some dead bunnies… trying a new healthfood thing for my cats (Their natural food is raw fresh whole rodent). But we will only get one until we try them on it. I don’t wanna be stuck eating twenty, hah!
April 25, 2011 at 3:19 pm
@Starchasm: My daughter loved “Bunnicula”. He was a hit in her Easter Basket. She especially liked his belly-button-button. MORE VAMPIRE BUNNIES!
April 25, 2011 at 10:43 am
I am completely, totally thrilled and honored. Thank you!!!
April 25, 2011 at 10:48 am
Oh no, trust me, this honor is entirely mine. The even better twist is that before I started learning butchery, my nick name had always been Bunny as a kid. It came full circle….disturbing cannibalistic full circle.
April 25, 2011 at 12:26 pm
i’d be hated too, i have tons of bunny livestock
April 25, 2011 at 1:15 pm
Is it somehow less wrong if you have someone else butcher them for you? I don’t see the logic.
April 25, 2011 at 7:13 pm
Probably a combination of PETA and people who tend to think of rabbits as cute little furry pets.
I come from an area where hunting is common, and everyone I know butchers their own meat, mostly because it’s cheaper than getting one of the local small packing plants to do it for you.
I’ve eaten rabbit, BTW. Very tasty.
April 25, 2011 at 10:34 am
WOOHOOOO!
C’mon, no one wants the glorious egg-gina?
April 25, 2011 at 10:35 am
Crud hit the filter. I MEANT to say:
Oh NO! The “Keep Calm and Wax On” candle is gone!
/cries
April 25, 2011 at 12:31 pm
yes.
i stayed up til 3 am and as soon as the shop opened i bought it.
i stalked the fuck outta that page.
April 25, 2011 at 12:50 pm
Stranger Danger! Stranger Danger!
April 25, 2011 at 2:38 pm
Always knew you were hardcore like that.
April 25, 2011 at 10:35 am
I’d like to donate an item. I’m a sucker for good causes. How do I do that? The last cause like this I participated in, the jewelry sets I donated brought in about $600 for the family in need. Do I just list the item with a link to here, or that payment goes to someone else who will let me know when it’s been paid for and to go ahead and ship?
April 25, 2011 at 10:37 am
see the fb page notes for info.
April 25, 2011 at 10:50 am
The items are restocked once a month. It’s too late for this month, but if you want to donate for next month you can go to http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=201576379875576
And read about how to contribute.
April 26, 2011 at 12:13 pm
THANK YOU, i was lurking trying to figure that out, i have some stuff to throw at good causes.
April 25, 2011 at 10:38 am
This is great! And I do want to comment totally off-topic as well… hope that’s okay! If not, chalk up the bad judgment to my daytime sobriety.
The ad on this site for AquaPets made me curious, so I googled them and the top result was this site:
“…7-year old church member, Martha Chumsky…walked into her parents’ bedroom looking for her toy, only to find her mother standing naked as jaybird in front of the bureau mirror, wiping off her daughter’s Aquapet with a dirty wet rag.”
It’s really hilarious. I wonder how long it’ll be before someone’s reselling them as vintage steampunk sex toys on Etsy.
April 25, 2011 at 10:38 am
Sorry, I thought I closed that tag… and I just now noticed the preview feature, of course.
April 25, 2011 at 10:38 am
Jesus Hobart Christ.
Stop doing all this “good” already.
My teeth hurt!
I’m getting paid on Wednesday. Huzzah!
April 25, 2011 at 10:54 am
Eh. Frak it. I can eat ramen tomorrow.
April 25, 2011 at 10:39 am
I just bought a few of Jason’s HerpDerps. Because they’re dumb and cute and they will live on top of my monitor.
April 25, 2011 at 11:49 am
I love those!! He’s as adorable as they are. I love guys who craft!
April 25, 2011 at 6:31 pm
And it’s for a good cause. How could I possibly say no? I didn’t have the time to knit something for the sale this month.
April 25, 2011 at 10:44 am
Really? I dont think this is the best use of money for cancer patients. For travel expenses? What about the people that are already living near the hospital? That way we can spend more on research and healing and stuff and less on feeding the greedy pigs in the middle east.
I am just saying that traveling is a huge expense and we can spend that money on people already there. Best bang for your buck you know?
April 25, 2011 at 12:05 pm
You’re very pleasant.
April 25, 2011 at 6:56 pm
And I’m an idiot… You think I’d have figured out that trolls don’t usually post pics pointing out that they are in fact trolls. Pardon my derp. (I should have know better!) Snark on, swab29, snark on!
April 25, 2011 at 12:18 pm
The Starfish Story
Original Story by: Loren Eisley
One day a man was walking along the beach when he noticed a boy picking something up and gently throwing it into the ocean.
Approaching the boy, he asked, “What are you doing?”
The youth replied, “Throwing starfish back into the ocean. The surf is up and the tide is going out. If I don’t throw them back, they’ll die.”
“Son,” the man said, “don’t you realize there are miles and miles of beach and hundreds of starfish? You can’t make a difference!” After listening politely, the boy bent down, picked up another starfish, and threw it back into the surf. Then, smiling at the man, he said…”
I made a difference for that one.”
*Now please troll somewhere else. Better still, go donate to research. MY CHILD HAD CANCER & I think this is the tits–what’s your problem?
April 25, 2011 at 12:31 pm
The funds are actually going to help cover some of the vaccine/clinical trial costs too, since Jason’s insurance won’t be providing any coverage.
We appreciate your concern.
April 26, 2011 at 6:45 am
Hee hee…I love your classy response. I am SO glad it seems to be going well!
April 25, 2011 at 1:20 pm
Perhaps my sarcasm sensors are offline, but I think swab is just parodying that one buttmunch who was all butthurt about April wanting to help that other family buy a headstone.
Or I’m totally wrong and swab is also a buttmunch.
April 25, 2011 at 1:22 pm
With a dash of breastfeeding troll.
April 25, 2011 at 1:23 pm
This is a possibility. Hmmmmmm.
Well, Bill Cosby still stands!
April 25, 2011 at 4:42 pm
I wouldn’t care if Dr. Cosby was quoting Samuel L. Jackson complete with f-bombs. He is a wonderful man.
Two margaritas and a degree from Temple University. Sorry for the interruption.

I get it Swab, and I think you’re funny as hell.
April 25, 2011 at 5:30 pm
Agreed- the “IT’S A TROLL” was a pretty big tipoff.
April 25, 2011 at 6:58 pm
I’m just slow–back to your regularly scheduled sarcasm…
April 25, 2011 at 6:02 pm
Do I thumb down for the troll or thumb up for the (I assume April-added) picture?
April 25, 2011 at 10:45 am
Maybe this will be incentive for me to make art — so that I can sell it to Regretsy
victimssupporters — for charity!April 25, 2011 at 7:37 pm
Me too. I don’t usually sell on etsy, but I do make very decent little crafts. I may have to get in on this action next month.
It is a little intimidating, though. Y’all are some talented fuckers. I’ve seen several things I really, really love.
April 25, 2011 at 10:45 am
I can say from firsthand experience that Robin’s Nag Champa bubble bath is GREAT!
April 25, 2011 at 1:42 pm
Ooooh, me, too! I love it!
April 25, 2011 at 4:03 pm
Her candles are divine as well! My house smells like delicious bananas 24/7!
April 25, 2011 at 11:06 pm
the bath salts i got from her were great too. they smell wonderful.
April 25, 2011 at 10:46 am
Is it too late to contribute to this cause? I’m part of April’s Army, but I’ve been bad about keeping up with the goings-on…
April 25, 2011 at 10:51 am
It’s too late for this month, but if you want to donate for next month you can go to http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=201576379875576 And read about how to contribute.

(((Smooches))
April 25, 2011 at 10:47 am
I gifted myself the March Hare as a new apartment warming present. Because, you know, I haven’t even signed the lease yet and I need more stuff to box up and move when the day comes.
I love that Etsy is being used to actually do good and not just to massage already-engorged-hipster-craftard egos!
April 25, 2011 at 10:47 am
I love, love, love Regretsy so hard right now.
April 25, 2011 at 10:49 am
You guys are splendid! I think what you’re doing is fabulous and as soon as I clean the financial situation, you’re all going on my wishlist. Thanks for being amazing examples of charity (a virtue lost on so many these days). God bless you! (Or, for the secular people: fuck yeah, you’re awesome!)
April 25, 2011 at 10:54 am
Personally, I appreciate both sentiments! Namaste, bitches!
April 25, 2011 at 10:50 am
I’m just glad to be participating in the shop to help out. I don’t have the disposable income right now to donate directly, but I sure can take the time to glaze some cute ceramics and hope they can help someone in need.
April 25, 2011 at 10:50 am
1 Mother’s Day gift bought AND the money goes to charity? It is a good day to be me!
April 25, 2011 at 10:53 am
And for those of you who just have too much stuff (like me)…donate!
April 25, 2011 at 10:54 am
I told my husband “I’m buying some soap to help this chick pay for her boyfriend’s pancreatic cancer research.” He said “He probably doesn’t even have cancer.” I said, “I hope he does.” My husband was like, “Really? You’re mean, wishing people’s boyfriends have cancer.” :/
April 25, 2011 at 11:30 am
Totally has cancer. You can read his blog if you want:

April 25, 2011 at 11:55 am
I always check out the person we help to the best of my ability. I feel very comfortable choosing this seller.
April 25, 2011 at 12:06 pm
Anyone who doubts your ability to vet someone hasn’t been on here long enough to see you sniff out a re-seller!
April 25, 2011 at 2:28 pm
I knew it was legit! My husband is just an IRL troll.
April 25, 2011 at 10:54 am
I’m so happy that the shop is doing so well already! Kudos to everyone that’s participating, all the items are spectacular!
April 25, 2011 at 10:54 am
I just bought the blue stuffed cloud pillow from the April’s Army shop. Thanks for doing so much good HK, the world needs it.
April 25, 2011 at 10:57 am
I’ve decided I’m going to start saving up my change into a jar and use this to be able to buy something next month!
April 25, 2011 at 10:59 am
The “Fuckery Fund”?
April 25, 2011 at 11:01 am
Yes! I’ll have to make a cozy to go around the jar that says that.
April 25, 2011 at 2:52 pm
I would literally buy that cozy off you if you did make it Sadie.
April 25, 2011 at 4:03 pm
It’s going on my list!
April 26, 2011 at 8:55 am
Ooooh…oooh…I want one! Excellent idea for next month…I shall pay you a handsome fee!
April 25, 2011 at 12:38 pm
Yes. I’m going to start a monthly fuckery fund. It’s the only way.
April 25, 2011 at 11:00 am
*bows down*
I am so not worthy of your company. You all rock like aftershocks! Brilliant!
April 25, 2011 at 11:01 am
Nooooooooo! I missed the fancy t-rex brooch!
A great variety of items, contests all!
April 25, 2011 at 11:02 am
Contests?! I meant congrats. DAMN YOU, AUROCORREEEEEEEEEEEEEECT!
April 25, 2011 at 11:34 am
Auro? hahahahaha ha ha
April 25, 2011 at 12:58 pm
Fuck me, I’m the biggest fail whale in Wales today.
April 25, 2011 at 5:32 pm
Why herro, aurocorrect.
April 25, 2011 at 11:01 am
DANG! just jumped up to 50 sales! April’s Army FUCK YEAH!
April 25, 2011 at 11:02 am
that’s 50 sales last time I looked!
April 25, 2011 at 11:04 am
My grandmother died of pancreatic cancer last year. I just made a modest purchase, and I hope our collective efforts will result in something amazing <3
April 25, 2011 at 11:07 am
So sorry for your loss. May you find peace.
April 25, 2011 at 11:12 am
I’m not giving the thumbs up to your loss but to your sentiment. I also just lost my grandfather to pancreatic cancer last month (((hugs))) to you
April 25, 2011 at 11:10 am
Done and done… love me some Nag Champa fragrance!
April 25, 2011 at 11:11 am
Tickled that my Chefthulhu sold on the first day. Namaste, bitches.
(now who do I have to mug to get that April doll?)
April 25, 2011 at 5:37 pm
Me. Go ahead, be jealous. I’ll be jealous of the mail system until it gets here. That’s how much I love it.
April 25, 2011 at 11:13 am
55 now!
My earrings were sold at the very morning, didn’t even get to see them listed ‘)
April 25, 2011 at 11:18 am
This is amazing! I am so excited that things are selling so fast!going back to see if we are up to 51 yet…..
April 25, 2011 at 11:20 am
Knows I am too late for that bottle in spot #1 in row #2 — but what IS it? I feel like I must own it, whatever it is?!
April 25, 2011 at 11:25 am
Finally figuring out how to use Etsy – forgive my ignorant question (which I have now answered). Love the bottle lantern!
April 25, 2011 at 11:21 am
this post alone, i think, is going to *really* boost the sales.
things are just flying now.
im glad for that.
go AA go!!!!!!
April 25, 2011 at 11:22 am
Just hit the halfway point. Half the items sold already! And I know you bitches are jealous of my Regretsy Thugs doll!
April 25, 2011 at 11:24 am
I just needed to say this–and it’s a subtle hint to you cross stitchers…

April 25, 2011 at 11:50 am
Oh gods. If this also had a unicorn shitting rainbows on it I’d buy one for a friend who’s in remission.
HINT fuckin’ HINT x2
April 25, 2011 at 12:01 pm
This is amazing! I’d get this for my dad in a heartbeat. He had a button that said “Cancer sucks!” that he wore all the time (he went into full remission from multiple myeloma for 2 years).
Fuck it, I’ll take up needle point to make this happen.
April 25, 2011 at 12:54 pm
Well, that’s a treatment method I’d never considered…
April 25, 2011 at 2:05 pm
I actually already have a “FUCK CANCER” stitched up. I need to get it framed and we can sell it for May.
April 25, 2011 at 11:25 am
I’m so happy the sale is going well, talk about a labor of love. Thanks to the organizers who did all the hard work! I’m so proud to be a part of this team.
April 25, 2011 at 11:28 am
So…..this may be a little random, and off topic, but…
My boyfriend works at The Genome Institute of Washington University. They sequence genomes, and spend most if not all of their time sequencing cancer genomes. They are a nonprofit, and are always looking for donations, and by donations, I mean genome donations. I’m not 100% sure they take donations for anyone who has already gone through treatments, but they might, my boyfriend is talking to his boss about it today. So, Jason, if you are interested, I can see what all needs to happen if you want to donate your genome. It goes to help cancer research.
And this applies to anyone who knows anyone with cancer. Convince them to donate their genome! It goes to helping find a cure, and thats totally awesome!
Here is the website, by the way. http://genome.wustl.edu/
April 25, 2011 at 11:32 am
I’ll make sure Jason sees this.
April 25, 2011 at 11:33 am
Yay! Thank you!
April 25, 2011 at 11:34 am
Friday (pay day) can’t come soon enough!
April 25, 2011 at 11:38 am
You might be right about that. At this rate, everything might be gone by tomorrow!
April 25, 2011 at 11:46 am
you are both right. Things are selling so fast I nearly had a heart attack when I miss-entered my password. I was panicked that the stuff I was buying might get bought up from under me by folks with less clumsy fingers!
April 25, 2011 at 11:50 am
i did the same thing. (except im perpetually logged in to etsy)
i made myself stay up and chronically refresh the shop, e-stalking…. not to see my item in the shop, i was waiting to pounce on the item i wanted.
i got it, too.
April 25, 2011 at 5:42 pm
I did the SAME THING! I waited until opening so I could nab that Dino brooch, I was petrified I was going to get Dinojacked. I bought everything in separate carts because I was afraid if I browsed too long, I’d lose it all.
April 25, 2011 at 11:36 am
The photography attached to the stoneware miniature jugs is hilarious. I would almost buy the prints themselves!
April 25, 2011 at 12:28 pm
The artist behind Grandma’s Jugs has a whole bunch of other awesome Grandma listings:
“Grandma Doll bought these loaf pans so that she and Grandpa Doll could have some well-deserved time off. Often they would get out the loaf pans and sit in front of the TV together, watching Lawence Welk. Other times they would just grab a loaf pan when they needed a quick nap.”
http://www.etsy.com/listing/9593757/two-loaf-pan-miniatures
These would make a boffo Little Golden Book.
April 25, 2011 at 2:37 pm
Hey! I am really glad you like Grandma’s jugs!
April 26, 2011 at 12:31 am
Let’s just say if you were able to make a printed photo series of your lovely two models and donated it to April’s Army in the upcoming months, I would most certainly buy them!
BTW, I just “hearted” ten thousand things in your store. Beautiful work!
April 25, 2011 at 11:39 am
All my owls sold already! I wish I had made a billion more…
April 25, 2011 at 12:40 pm
I noticed the owls — they are super adorable!!!!!!!! You should list them in your own Etsy shop as well!
April 25, 2011 at 5:30 pm
If I wasn’t about to have a baby, I totally would. I’m going to give myself a few months off since I’m assuming all my creative juices will go down the crapper.
April 25, 2011 at 4:50 pm
I got the golden brown one. I’m naming him “McNugget.”
April 25, 2011 at 5:30 pm
That is an awesome name.
April 26, 2011 at 3:55 am
Nice:-D
I got Pudgy owl #6 who I think I’ll either name Charlie after the owl from the New Zoo Revue or Nicodemus as a nod to the Secret of Nimh.
April 25, 2011 at 5:43 pm
I bought an Owl! You were a gift from the gods…. “Herp Derp” is the name I call my best friend and it pisses her off to the point of seething. It was meant to be, MEANT TO BE!
April 25, 2011 at 11:42 am
This is awesome! April’s Army and Regretsy are Awesomesauce to the nth power.
April 25, 2011 at 11:46 am
April’s Army rocks! I can’t wait for my moustache candle to come in the mail! I have a feeling it’s going to be even better than that free mustache ride I got outside the fair last year.
April 25, 2011 at 8:56 pm
Apparently, I’m going to the wrong fair.
April 25, 2011 at 11:46 am
I signed up for Etsy just to buy some stuff from Robin’s shop. I can’t wait to get it!!!
April 25, 2011 at 4:52 pm
Remember to keep the Regretsy spirit all throughout the year! Join the April’s Army team on Etsy and support sellers of quality handmade and vintage stuff!
April 25, 2011 at 11:48 am
I’m very proud to be part of this incredible team. I’m humbled to be amongst such talented artists.
Thanks, April.
April 25, 2011 at 11:49 am
Holy cow, I get my fingers ready to buy something and, poof, it’s gone! I hate you, person who bought the mini painting! Okay, really I love you, because you have good taste, but still…
Seriously though, this is an amazing cause. I was thrilled to see the success rate is increasing, since I knew pancreatic was one of the less-survivable cancers.
I am trying to get stuff together for a shop of my own, so hopefully I’ll be able to toss something in soon. I am disabled and can’t get a “real job” until treatment progresses, so this would be the easiest way for me to give- just costs me time and a bit in materials, gives money straight to a good cause, and hopefully brings enjoyment to whoever buys it.
THANK YOU, April.
April 25, 2011 at 11:49 am
My mind is being blown away at the level of generosity and compassion. I’m just going to go sit in the corner and be humbled.
April 25, 2011 at 11:55 am
Yesterday, Shit was talked.
Today, Good has been done! (And you have all done Very well <- young Mr. Grace)
I Love you guys!
So, what are we going to do tomorrow, Pinky?
April 25, 2011 at 12:14 pm
First floor: Telephones, gents’ ready-made suits, shirts, socks, ties, hats, underwear and shoes. Going up!
An April’s Army remake of that theme song needs to be done.
April 25, 2011 at 4:55 pm
I think the first word is “perfumerie.”
Growing up I thought it was “peculiary.” if any store on earth had a department just for peculiar things, it would be Grace Brothers.
Or Regretsy.
April 25, 2011 at 4:56 pm
Correction, that’s the first thing in the Grounf Floor.
April 25, 2011 at 2:13 pm
Same thing we do every day, Irishyankee…try to take over THE WORLD.
April 25, 2011 at 11:59 am
63 sales and counting! I love you guys!!!!
April 25, 2011 at 12:04 pm
*runs around squealing with delight* I have collected items related to or directly in “Freaks” for years. This pleases me to no end. I hope it’s there on Friday http://www.etsy.com/listing/72768992/koo-koo-the-bird-girl-needle-felted-doll
April 25, 2011 at 12:08 pm
Just bought the dangly earrings
There’s so much great stuff!
April 25, 2011 at 12:29 pm
Mmmm, Georgia Peach cream perfume! *purchases*
April 25, 2011 at 12:33 pm
awesomeness, on my way to check it out now!. Side note… regretsy on the front page of MSN today!!! woohoo!!!
April 25, 2011 at 12:34 pm
I just wanted to come by and be all like “HEY GUYS, THANKS!” before I go bury myself in bubble envelopes and shrink wrap
Ms. April, all you members of April’s Army & fans of Regretsy, you are good people and Jason and I are so grateful for all of you!!! Thank you for helping Jason have a fighting chance & hopefully this vaccine can get FDA approved and help even more people, in the long run
<3
April 25, 2011 at 12:46 pm
You are too good for words. I hope all the efforts put forth this week, help you guys reach your goals. You two deserve this kindness very much! I am so happy to see everyone participating.
April 25, 2011 at 12:36 pm
glad you popped in robin.
from what it looks like, your shop has had a mighty significant number of sales today too.
April 25, 2011 at 12:36 pm
I see a ton of new sales in the ForJason shop as well, this is making me feel all warm and fuzzy and I haven’t had any wine yet. I might have to go kick someone to counteract it.
April 25, 2011 at 12:42 pm
I love this forum, no griping about prices or how things should be priced – we all just do what we can.
April 25, 2011 at 12:46 pm
I didn’t see anything I wanted and I have more stuff and knick-knacks than is good for me anyway.
So I just donated. I just wish I wasn’t so broke, so I could donate more. Sorry. Doing the closest thing a heathen like me can do to praying, which is hoping a lot.
April 25, 2011 at 12:51 pm
That’s as good or better. After all, if you don’t buy something, then it’s there for someone else who wouldn’t donate.
April 25, 2011 at 3:40 pm
Yeah I was using that same logic and hoping that’s how it works out. *nods*
April 25, 2011 at 12:48 pm
Yeah! My apron sold!
Thank you April for providing this platform for all of us to be able to help others.
And thank you to all the talented people that donated items and to the people that have donated their time to set up the shop, run the shop and advertise.
I’m very proud to be a small part of so much awesomeness.
April 25, 2011 at 12:55 pm
Gave a little, hope it helps. My grandma died of pancreatic cancer when I was 7. I’d like to see someone kick it’s butt. She was the only member of my family I liked.
April 25, 2011 at 1:01 pm
Yummy…Georgia Peach solid perfume is winging its way my way. I’ve never tried solid perfume before, should be fun!
April, you totally rock. But you know that already.
And April’s Army? What an amazing group. I can’t wait to find out how much $$ is raised for Jason (if April wants to tell us)!
April 25, 2011 at 3:50 pm
I want to know, too! I feel like I can’t give much and it would feel less pointless if our total made some difference.
Also, you know, we could bask in our own glory a little bit. That’s neat, too.
April 25, 2011 at 1:11 pm
Does anyone know who made the plate in the upper left hand corner? the one that looks like Patrick Nagel meets Frankenstein b/c I love it.
April 25, 2011 at 1:15 pm
My dogopus sold! That makes me happier than a pig in shit!
April 25, 2011 at 1:25 pm
Someone really needs to buy that awesome WTF Robot necklace because I really really want it and I promised myself I’d only buy one thing.
April 25, 2011 at 2:01 pm
No worries I got it
I shall wear it proudly!
April 25, 2011 at 1:27 pm
I was all set to buy that gorgeous journal, but they don’t ship to Canada, apparently.
I’ll definitely make a donation, though.
April 25, 2011 at 1:41 pm
I got the amazing hellephant necklace. I’m really excited since I missed out on the salt and pepper shakers last time.
April 25, 2011 at 1:42 pm
Can I add something to this week’s listing? Or next month. FYI, I’ve bought from robin lynne before. She made amazing gift soaps for my shotgun wedding last spring. Lovely lady and product.
April 25, 2011 at 1:54 pm
Huzzah! My robot necklace sold, and even better, I am going to be the proud owner of his and hers matching hipster magnetic paper dolls from Mellymo!
April 25, 2011 at 2:07 pm
That necklace is so awesome, if you do anymore in the future let me know…I know several wonderful people who would appreciate a gift like that. And I’d much rather buy things from people like you and other real handmade sellers than a store any day.
April 25, 2011 at 4:58 pm
Culture – I have started some and have more parts for them. I’ve also made robot charm bracelets. I have put jewelry on hold for a while though, because it just doesn’t seem to sell on Etsy unless it has a mass produced octopus or mum on it. I’m concentrating more on arty stuff for now. Thanks for buying and I hope you love it.
April 25, 2011 at 6:04 pm
Damn those assholes and their plastic mums glued to octopuses! Your robot necklace spanks the shit out of any of that crap…dammit! Well if you have em, I’ll buy em and give them as rad gifts. I’ll just keep checking your Etsy site unless you have a different one as well?
Anyway, keep making the stuff you love and people will buy it…there’s a lot of good people here so I can only hope there’s others out there a brain and some decent taste!
April 25, 2011 at 1:57 pm
All the items are so awesome, way to go everyone who submitted crafts, time, or dinero to this cause! I can’t wait to receive my WTF Whimsicle Robot guy. When I found out he was made partly from used computer parts I nurged out so hard I about fell off my chair!
Thanks again Regretsy for giving us a place to get together, have a laugh, and create some real change in this fucked up piece!
April 25, 2011 at 2:10 pm
This sale made a difference for this “one” too. I’ve been feeling really crappy lately, like nothing I do is good enough.
I was so worried that my item wouldn’t sell, and that it was one more thing I had failed at…blah blah blah
My sampler sold in the first 15 items, and it made all the difference in the world for my attitude for myself.
So, thank you for helping someone else who wouldn’t have gotten that without this group.
April 25, 2011 at 2:15 pm
April, I think it’s wonderful that you do this. I’ve joined the army and I picked up a green apple soap. All the best to you Robin and Jason!!
April 25, 2011 at 2:21 pm
oh man, I can’t believe I missed that hillbilly bajingo wash!
April 25, 2011 at 8:52 pm
Have I been summoned . . . ?
April 25, 2011 at 2:41 pm
The shop is doing so well, it rocks my socks. This is pure awesome.
April 25, 2011 at 2:56 pm
I’m a little late to the party! I just checked out the shop. So many awesome items by so many awesome people. Long live April’s Army.
April 25, 2011 at 3:52 pm
I just want to say that I never got involved in charity before I found Regretsy. I would give a dollar to the Salvation Army guy outside Target at Christmas time, but that was about it. And maybe it’s kind of weird because everyone over at Etsy thinks we’re a bunch of hags, but look at all the good you do. ALL of you. If someone needs help, you give it and then some. And that’s really, really awesome.
(P.S. Just bought the zombie pendants! FUCK YEAH.)
April 25, 2011 at 2:57 pm
Oh tartar sauce! Which one of you whimsical hillbillies bought the April doll? I’m going to have to pitch up my imaginary, internet tent next time to get first dibs on these cool entries ;-p
April 25, 2011 at 3:58 pm
I know! Wasn’t that the niftiest thing Ever!
April 25, 2011 at 5:49 pm
OMG! My new nickname is now whimsical hillbilly.
Brag…raises hand…brag…I got the doll…brag.
I had to sign up & jump through hoops that took several heart stopping moments to complete. Whew.
April 25, 2011 at 3:13 pm
Robin’s Mellon-Berry Lip Balm rules! Smells delish, and equally yummy on the lips. My daughter loves the tube that landed in her Easter Basket.
As mentioned, besides a chocolate bunny and jelly beans, my daughter’s basket was stocked with items from Team AA’s Shops this year. Where in the hell else would I find a pink vampire stuffed bunny named “Bunnicula”? Or an extremely well made makeup bag with an appliqué of a demented piece of sandwich bread on it? And the watercolors, from the “Amateur Treasury”, are pretty awesome too. They lock closed, so you can carry them with a journal for instant art.
With Mother’s Day around the corner, Robin’s Shop has plenty of stuff that your pain in the ass and hard to buy for Mother In-Law would just love.
Handmade gifts, are the best gifts. Especially when they support the team. Thugz for Lyfe!
April 25, 2011 at 3:13 pm
The ingenius thing about the ‘lovely lady parts soap’ is that as you use it, it goes through a puberty of sorts…what with all the hairs sticking to it.
Also it is the ideal gift for the uncircumcised male in your life. What better incentive to scrub his dick and stop going around giving everybody AIDS/warts/cancer/* with his knob cheese? Its the gift that keeps on giving!
*this is total bollocks and I am making a joke here ‘k?
April 25, 2011 at 3:27 pm
I want to buy the personalized vampire stake, but none of the listings have shipping options outside of Great Britain.
(
April 25, 2011 at 4:00 pm
Where are you?
April 25, 2011 at 4:10 pm
Live in Norway
(And I should learn to check if the comments use smilies before using a smiley with a nose..)
April 25, 2011 at 4:16 pm
I meant to write “none of the listings have shipping options outside of Great Britain for European costumers”.
Kinda lost the point when I left out that I was talking specifically about Europe..
In my defense, it is very late here..
April 25, 2011 at 11:24 pm
i have a friend in Tasmania who would likely enjoy adding this to her buffy paraphernalia. she has every single weapon featured on the show .. alas i cant buy it right now..
April 25, 2011 at 4:29 pm
If you convo the maker, they might be able to switch the shipping option. The very lovely AwakenJournaling helped me out with my purchase.
April 25, 2011 at 5:07 pm
I convoed April’s Army, who told me it would probably be okey, but they wanted to check with the seller to make sure.
So I’m currently sitting here, heart racing and blood pumping, franticly refreshing the message page, hoping I get a positive answer before somebody else buys it.
My stake! (I hope) Stay away!
April 26, 2011 at 6:03 am
I got my stake! Now I just need to figure out how I should personalize it..
Thanks so much to April(?) who’s jumped through hoops so that I could buy it.
I also bought two lip glosses and a Herp Derp, so I’ll be waiting impatiently by the mail box the next three to six weeks.
April 25, 2011 at 5:20 pm
I bought some of her sweet tea whipped soap last month. It’s the sweetest smelling soap I’ve ever had! The bees are going to chase me around when I start using it and that’s a good thing.
April 25, 2011 at 5:22 pm
Oh… my… god! Is that an April doll?! That is adorable! If I had caught this sooner, I would’ve snatched it up in an instant!
I really wish I were more crafty. Maybe I should get back into to painting so I can donate something next time? It’s gonna take a lot of will power to put down the Banana Bread Beer and pick up a paint brush.
April 25, 2011 at 5:23 pm
Please ignore that extra “to”. My fingers are dumb.
April 25, 2011 at 5:40 pm
Man, is it possible to donate an item for next months’ bidding even if you aren’t an Etsy seller? I wanted to become one but currently have no cash on my credit card to spare.
April 25, 2011 at 6:04 pm
All I could afford was the Joker keychain, but I can’t wait to get it, and I have just the giftee for it.
April 25, 2011 at 6:53 pm
YAY Lara!
it will be shipped to you tomorrow.
April 25, 2011 at 9:03 pm
Man! All the stuff I liked is gone!
April 25, 2011 at 9:33 pm
Then change the size of your smell and like something else!
April 25, 2011 at 9:57 pm
this day has blown me away. So many sales in the shop! It feels good to make a difference.
April 25, 2011 at 10:36 pm
I missed out getting something in this month. If I can get some stuff together, next month I will try to contribute. The stuff that was listed was awesome and I wish I had money to buy something.
April 26, 2011 at 4:45 pm
So question … how exactly do we know for sure that people who claim they are collecting money for a good cause are telling the truth? Not to be
a bitchcynical but its not like that’s unheard of… and what’s stopping the next john doe from coming up with a soppy life story and taking advantage of the naive self righteous herd?…April 27, 2011 at 7:04 am
I kind of agree. I mean, I consider myself a charity case, but since I know that not many people consider being in debt a real ‘charity case’ and others need it more I havent’ bothered. I do love the idea though.
April 27, 2011 at 6:44 pm
Who did the dog in the bottom right?
April 27, 2011 at 8:18 pm
I HAD to register just to buy the Zombie pendants!! (It was SUCH a close tie between those and the Snowman death scene pictures.)Boyfriend and I are going to each have a zombie (I am more excited than he is!)
Yay! Thanks April!
