Keep Calm and Carry On, My Wayward Son
Last Friday, I posted a round-up of horrible versions of the Keep Calm and Carry On poster, currently infecting Etsy.
I happened to look in the comments for that post last night, and found a shitload of new versions left by the Regretsy elves..
Here are some of my favorites.

Carry on.
April 5, 2011 at 4:47 pm
SINGLE ENTENDRE
AND
CARRY ON
Ooooh! You are awful!
April 5, 2011 at 4:47 pm
My husband reading over my shoulder said “Where’s the one that says ‘Keep Calm and get your ass back in the kitchen and make me a sammich’”. He thinks he is funny see…
April 5, 2011 at 6:50 pm
I trust you disabused him of that notion.
April 5, 2011 at 7:02 pm
Of course! I was also kind enough to provide him with an excuse for why he has a black eye. He is to tell people that he ‘accidentally’ ran into the door knob. O_o
April 5, 2011 at 7:16 pm
I like that idea! You can use it unisex!
April 5, 2011 at 4:48 pm
damn! I wish I had made one of these in my artistic ability.
April 5, 2011 at 9:14 pm
Can someone make one with a badger on top that says
KEEP CALM
AND
LACTATE ON
Please?
April 5, 2011 at 4:49 pm
I NEED THESE. What is the likelihood of them being added to the Regretsy shop?
April 5, 2011 at 6:08 pm
Agreed.
The Harry Potter and Hitchhiker’s Guide reference ones are my favorites.
April 5, 2011 at 6:19 pm
They should collaborate and make that book happen:
Harry Potter and the Hitchhiker’s Guide
I think it would be a hit.
April 5, 2011 at 6:55 pm
you can even get the pattern to embroider it!

April 5, 2011 at 11:48 pm
My kitchen and guest bathroom will never be the same.
April 7, 2011 at 1:57 am
I need to make this, just trying to figure out if I could transfer this into a crochet pattern as my cross stitching abilities are a bit pants.
Imagine this as a big blanket though, that would be awesome!
April 5, 2011 at 6:36 pm
This. I would pay at least $24.95* for “Hold my beer and watch this”.
* Actual cost is only $10.00, and we’ll throw in a second one for free! Just pay separate shipping and handling.
April 5, 2011 at 6:47 pm
Shit, If Hellen/April wants to use my silly post for charity I say “GO FOR IT” all I ask for is an opening credit when they make a movie about it. By the way this would make a great beer coozie, just sayin’.
April 5, 2011 at 7:53 pm
OMG coozie!!!! can you tell i’m drunk right now?
April 5, 2011 at 9:23 pm
I’ve got it as my FB icon. Keep calm.
April 5, 2011 at 6:58 pm
i made mine (namaste bitches) in mspaint
April 5, 2011 at 11:47 pm
Seconded, or forty-seconded, or whatever. I would buy them all.
What is wrong with me?
April 5, 2011 at 4:49 pm
Keep Calm and Keep ‘Em Coming. These are awesome. Awefulsome? I love this poster no matter how it’s butchered.
April 5, 2011 at 4:49 pm
Oh hell yes. I love these!
Maybe next month’s charity theme could be “Keep calm”.
April 5, 2011 at 4:49 pm
Keep Calm and Don’t Spill Your Drink!
April 5, 2011 at 7:46 pm
If you’d make it with Jello, it would be harder to spill! Whee!!
April 5, 2011 at 4:50 pm
i feel so special!! mine made the post!
April 5, 2011 at 6:01 pm
ME TOO! Squee!!!
If I had known it would be “picked up for syndication”, I would have spent more time looking for a a crown that matched more closely than the one that came with the Free Regal Vector Pack off the Adobe website.
April 5, 2011 at 6:54 pm
I just figured that was what St. Edward’s crown looked like in Comic Sans.
April 5, 2011 at 6:52 pm
So did mine! I’m so honored!
(I did the “Change the Size of Your Smell” one. Which I intend to print out and frame when I change the red cartridge on my printer.)
April 5, 2011 at 4:51 pm
This are all fantastic!
The “Hold My Beer” one made me laugh out loud.
April 5, 2011 at 5:13 pm
That’s mine! I was so excited to see something I Photshoped together in 20 minutes featured on this awesome site it gave me a chubby. And I’m glad I could make a “work of art” that brightened someones day.
April 5, 2011 at 5:28 pm
THANK YOU. When I saw that one, I almost peed myself I laughed so hard. My fiancee and I decided it would probably be perfect for his man-cave or our future basement bar. Most excellent!
April 5, 2011 at 7:24 pm
It definitely wins points for using the least amount of words from the original poster, yet keeping the same flow. Brava.
April 5, 2011 at 4:51 pm
Keep calm and carrion…I want that one!!!
April 5, 2011 at 4:53 pm
me too!
April 5, 2011 at 6:47 pm
Me three!!!!!
April 5, 2011 at 8:37 pm
You’ve heard about the vultures who got through airport check-in relatively swiftly? They wisely brought only their carry-on.

April 6, 2011 at 11:30 am
It came from the comment thread that I linked to in this post. These are all parodies readers came up with. No one ripped you off, nothing here is being sold.
April 5, 2011 at 4:51 pm
Comic Sans and fancy ass jello shots will be forever connected in my mind now. This is the first time in decades that the sight of it made me smile.
April 5, 2011 at 4:52 pm
April 5, 2011 at 5:20 pm
This would make a great shirt, front and back.
April 6, 2011 at 1:08 am
I would SO buy that shirt!
April 5, 2011 at 6:22 pm
Hey Charlie! NO thumbs down! WINNING!!!
April 5, 2011 at 7:26 pm
Now only if it said “Now panic and freak the fuck out” – then it would be for me =)
April 5, 2011 at 4:53 pm
Carrion made me choke on my sunflower seeds.
April 5, 2011 at 4:56 pm
That was my favorite as well. I laughed so hard I scared the cat.
April 5, 2011 at 5:01 pm
My favorite. I hope someone is going to sell it- I neeed that poster!
April 5, 2011 at 4:53 pm
‘Put the money in the goddamn bag’ for the win!
April 5, 2011 at 4:55 pm
Hell yes!
April 5, 2011 at 4:57 pm
glad yall liked it
April 5, 2011 at 5:21 pm
I love that one. I thought of making a “Everyone be cool. This is a robbery” from Pulp Fiction, but you made it so much better. I agree FTW.
April 6, 2011 at 1:08 am
I could see myself wearing it at work… as a cashier.
Customers complain always about prices, so it would be appropriate.
April 6, 2011 at 4:12 pm
Where is your shop? I really want to purchase it and can’t seem to find it. >__>
April 6, 2011 at 5:18 pm
i don’t have a shop, i just made it in MSPaint for amusement D;
April 5, 2011 at 4:53 pm
Now *those* are the sort I’d have in beautiful, ornate frames! They totally rock! ^_^
April 5, 2011 at 4:54 pm
Keep clam and be shellfish?
April 5, 2011 at 5:11 pm
Hey Qui, I really like your Etsy shop. I’ll keep you in mind when I have some cash to spend.
April 5, 2011 at 5:26 pm
Awesome!
April 5, 2011 at 5:41 pm
Holy Sh*t Qui, I wish I had $250 spare bucks, that world map “Here there be legends” is freaking amazing! You are surely talented my lady!
April 6, 2011 at 12:13 am
Okay, I am smitten with the fact that you put your beaded American flag on your bunny to photograph, Qui.
Love it.
April 6, 2011 at 5:47 am
This is my favorite for Qui’s shop. Srsly. I will eventually buy this.

EAT AT IVAR’S
(Northwest represent!)
April 5, 2011 at 4:54 pm
I will forever be calm now.
I almost laugh-horked my burrito when I read “Don’t Panic and Carry a Towel”… made my inner nerd happy.
Who am I kidding? I don’t have an inner nerd. My nerd is out there for all to see.
April 5, 2011 at 4:58 pm
Don’t worry Patty, my geek was ‘gasming all over the place, so, your nerd being out for all to see? Not so bad, really…^_^
April 5, 2011 at 5:42 pm
That was my favorite as well!
April 5, 2011 at 6:53 pm
me too!
April 5, 2011 at 6:48 pm
Embrace your outer nerd!
April 5, 2011 at 4:56 pm
I love it!

April 5, 2011 at 5:56 pm
I lol’d so hard at this.
April 5, 2011 at 7:00 pm
AWESOME!!!
April 5, 2011 at 7:06 pm
April 5, 2011 at 4:57 pm
My inner type-geek loves Keep Calm and Comic Sans… because Comic Sans gives me homicidal rage.
April 5, 2011 at 9:16 pm
I FUCKING KNOW HOW YOU FEEL
April 6, 2011 at 7:56 pm
this is as good a place as any to tell this story:
I helped a kooky “New Age” Mt. Shasta-type author proofread/edit her kooky self-published book, which she had written entirely in Comic Sans… because she thought it said COSMIC Sans, and it sounded mystical!
I never had the heart to tell her she was misreading it… but now I always think of Cosmic Sans…..
April 5, 2011 at 4:59 pm
KEEP CALM AND FAP ON
April 5, 2011 at 5:01 pm
Keep calm & fuck off might just be the new tattoo I’ve been looking for….
April 5, 2011 at 5:08 pm
Only if you get it in Comic Sans to match mine.
April 5, 2011 at 5:01 pm
as always, thanks to Helen and the Regretsy elves…you have no idea how much I love you all…
April 5, 2011 at 5:02 pm
No! Not the Comic Sans! Please – I’ll be good!
April 5, 2011 at 5:02 pm
I will buy anything with a picture of the Sorting Hat on it. ANYTHING.
April 5, 2011 at 5:14 pm
I’ll agree whole-heartedly and drink to that… actually, could you drink out of the Sorting Hat like the Stanley Cup? I bet it could continually replenish itself… Best. Drunk. Ever.
April 5, 2011 at 5:39 pm
I have no doubt that the Sorting Hat has that ability. I just hope it’s powerful enough magic to get rid of Draco Malfoy’s dandruff and hair gel residue beforehand.
April 6, 2011 at 8:46 am
I posted that one and wish I could take credit for it! No idea who originally made it, but it’s been printed and hanging in an ornate frame in my flat for two years.
April 5, 2011 at 5:04 pm
I would seriously buy “Carry On My Wayward Son” when my next paycheck comes in.
April 5, 2011 at 8:07 pm
Yeeeessssssssssssssssss! My fave!
April 5, 2011 at 5:06 pm
great now im humming that song. *sigh*
April 5, 2011 at 6:37 pm
Me too…all day.
April 5, 2011 at 5:06 pm
There are a few of these I’d buy!
April 5, 2011 at 5:06 pm
O sweet baby jesus . . . I need “Lie Back and Think of England”. Is anyone really selling that?
I could really go for “Hold My Beer”, too.
April 6, 2011 at 1:10 am
Lie Back and Think of England was my favorite. I would gladly give someone my money if I can buy it.
April 5, 2011 at 5:07 pm
Keep calm and glue a watch face on it.
April 5, 2011 at 5:07 pm
I want all of them!!
Keep calm and papyrus on
April 5, 2011 at 5:19 pm
Hmmm… Sounds like “Keep calm and write on!”
April 5, 2011 at 7:31 pm
look further down the comments…
April 5, 2011 at 5:11 pm
Amazing work! I must say that I love the Bank robbery one, but Keep Calm and Carrion was pretty fucking hilarious.
April 5, 2011 at 5:15 pm
April 6, 2011 at 3:16 pm
That’s a “Maddle” ad. I like it.
April 5, 2011 at 5:17 pm
Nice! I really love the Don’t Panic and Carry a Towel one! I need that!
April 5, 2011 at 5:17 pm
i would actually buy several of those….
April 5, 2011 at 5:20 pm
Oooh! Maybe a calendar with some of these!
April 5, 2011 at 6:50 pm
This gets my vote for the next Zazzle/charity item!
April 5, 2011 at 8:04 pm
Yes!
April 5, 2011 at 8:59 pm
Charity calendar is a great idea!
April 5, 2011 at 5:27 pm
Apropos of nothing, but I once lived with a truly terrible roommate whose ring tone was “Carry on my Wayward Son”. Now, the reasons she was a shitty roommate ranged from the mundane (never picked up after herself) to the gross (vile farts all night) to the absolute batshit (conflict resolution was carried out through threatening tweets). Now, the reason her ring tone holds a special place in my blackened heart is because she used her cellphone as an alarm clock. She could also sleep through anything. So every morning I got to hear a bad midi of the chorus to “Carry on My Wayward Son” over and over and over again until she woke up and shut it off, usually an hour later. Any mention of that Kansas song instantly brings me back to that hellhole of an apartment.
So thank you, Regretsy, for making my day that much more whimsicle.
April 5, 2011 at 6:06 pm
You haven’t had a batshit roommate until she knocks on your bedroom door at 2AM and asks to borrow your diaphragm.
April 5, 2011 at 6:43 pm
Oh, HELL no!
April 5, 2011 at 6:52 pm
What about a dude roommate who you hear using a hair dryer one morning – even though he shaves his head. When you jokingly ask what’s up, he very seriously responds “because a towel doesn’t get me dry enough.”
April 6, 2011 at 4:21 pm
Oh honey. He wasn’t using it on his head.
April 5, 2011 at 6:55 pm
Lol and EWWW.
April 5, 2011 at 7:41 pm
my last roommate was really pretty good as far as roommates go, but she had a loud, tinny, incessant version of Moon River as her alarm ringtone, and she could definitely sleep through a tornado. every time I hear the opening strands, I get panic attacks… I think I need a Keep Calm poster!
April 5, 2011 at 5:28 pm
“Keep Calm and Carrion”
..is fucking brilliant.
I want that on a hoodie. So bad do I want that.
Won’t someone let me give them money to have that on a black hoodie?
April 5, 2011 at 6:18 pm
It’s in reality not that terribly hard to do (and not that expensive). Go to Michaels (or wherever fabric paint is sold), buy whatever color you want, along with stencil adhesive and find stencils in whatever font you want. Wash and dry hoodie (usually without fabric softner), apply stencil adhesive to stencils, then apply stencils to hoodie, and spray the fabric paint on and *voila* your own personalized “Keep Calm and Carrion” hoodie.
The only drawback? You now have a can of stencil adhesive, and a can of fabric paint. It might actually cost you less than having someone do it for you and then having it shipped to you.
April 5, 2011 at 7:28 pm
I make clothing and jewelry for a living.
I am happy to pay for someone ELSE to make it for ME.
April 5, 2011 at 9:07 pm
Go to your local mall, there’s usually a kiosk place where they do that kind of thing…
April 6, 2011 at 6:46 am
but..but…then I will have to be in a mall.
I think I am the only person in the world who thinks malls are depressing, but I do. I avoid them at all costs. It’s not snobbery…it’s well being.
They might have unicorn rides there, for all I know.
Dammit, why can’t the internet solve ALL my problems?
April 5, 2011 at 11:29 pm
You don’t even have to go to that much trouble. Avery makes transfer paper for both light and dark fabric colors (I know this because I sell it at my store). Print out on home printer and iron on!
April 6, 2011 at 8:10 am
I’m sorry for this…but I couldn’t help it.
April 5, 2011 at 6:25 pm
If I ever get my Yudu out of the box, I’d totally make those.
April 5, 2011 at 7:09 pm
Just make sure when you “spray the fabric paint on” you consult the methodologies of
Millie Brown and Keith Boadwee.
April 5, 2011 at 7:23 pm
I was joking of course.
April 6, 2011 at 11:13 pm
Oh, thank funk. I thought I was going to have to read more about that damn maching before I can use it…then I was really confused because you don’t spray anything with that machine.

Let me start by saying that I’m supposed to be doing school stuff. So when I saw the one with the gun.. I almost lost it. Luckily I held it in. Took me a while before I could scroll down.
Thanks, Regretsy. Almost got me in trouble.
April 5, 2011 at 5:33 pm
April 5, 2011 at 8:34 pm
your line drawing of the elephant-sans-ear is breath taking. Can i get that embroidered on something?

Regretsy shops: they’re for charity.
April 5, 2011 at 6:47 pm
So, with this lovely double negative you would in fact buy something that photoshop and a printer could do?
April 5, 2011 at 5:42 pm
I always wanted one of those posters to say “Calm the fuck down”…
I’ve found it to be a more effective phrase.
April 5, 2011 at 8:42 pm
I like “Have a nice big cup of Shut The Fuck Up!”
April 5, 2011 at 5:49 pm
Ooooooh Shatner those are awesome!!! Thanks for the laugh! Best. Website. Ever!
April 5, 2011 at 5:50 pm
I made this one the other day…
April 5, 2011 at 7:20 pm

April 5, 2011 at 5:51 pm
April 5, 2011 at 5:53 pm
Fucking brilliant!
April 5, 2011 at 8:09 pm
Oh that is good.
April 5, 2011 at 5:53 pm
I would buy Keep Calm and Carrion.
April 5, 2011 at 6:48 pm
Seriously, is anyone actually making that?
April 5, 2011 at 9:03 pm
Etsy seller secretalice makes 3 versions of Keep Calm Carrion.
April 6, 2011 at 1:18 am
I’ve updated my Keep Calm treasury. It includes secretalice’s Carrion one.

Do I see a contest in the near future? Maybe who can sell the most of their sign on Etsy without making any reference to Regretsy???
April 5, 2011 at 5:56 pm
Please sell these in the Regretsy shop! I have already picked out three of them as gifts!
April 5, 2011 at 6:08 pm
You have no idea how awesome this random praise from strange strangers is after a day like I’ve had. Thank you.
Now I feel stupid for not saving the Illustrator file.
April 5, 2011 at 6:14 pm
Keep calm and bite me harder.
April 5, 2011 at 6:53 pm
Okay.
April 5, 2011 at 6:29 pm
April 5, 2011 at 6:36 pm
My favorite is the Namaste Bitches one. I think it’s probably because I have an ex-friend who used to teach me yoga, but ended up fucking every single one of my ex-boyfriends and telling them I had cheated on them? NAMASTELOL
April 5, 2011 at 6:38 pm
I don’t have any ideals for these.
April 5, 2011 at 6:45 pm
I’m just going to quietly leave this steaming pile over here. I blame sleep deprivation.

April 5, 2011 at 6:46 pm
I love all of you. I really do. I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed the internet as much as i have with Regretsy.
April 6, 2011 at 5:12 am
Me too! I haven’t laughed this often in years!
April 6, 2011 at 9:21 am
Agreed, this has got to be the blog with the funniest writer and readers.
April 5, 2011 at 6:50 pm
Wonderful! XD
April 5, 2011 at 7:00 pm
On another note, I think I would buy a lot of those. I like “Carry On and Namaste Bitches” and the Carrion one.
April 5, 2011 at 7:03 pm

April 5, 2011 at 8:05 pm
Oh dear – Avatar Papyrus. Nicely done!
Comic Sans has nothing on that annoying and pretentious font. When is Curlz MT going to raise its ugly head?

April 5, 2011 at 8:27 pm
I love these so hard!! The Harry Potter one is fantastic and I want to hang the “carrion” one above my desk at work. My co-workers would get a kick out of it. XD And I really did LOL at the “Hold my beer and watch this” one. I freakin’ love Regretsy.

I really actually want the Carry On My Wayward son one… mostly because I’ve spent the past 2 weeks watching through three seasons of Supernatural. What can I say I’ve got a big fan girl crush on Jensen Ackles, and Misha Collins.
April 5, 2011 at 9:07 pm
I’m going to give you the best advice you’ll ever get in your life:
Pretend the series ended at the season 5 finale. Actually, pretend it ended 30 seconds before the end of the season 5 finale.
You won’t regret it.

YES. THIS. This, this, this. This.
April 6, 2011 at 10:35 am
That’s what my best friend told me to. She said it got crappy after season 5. I actually got back into the series after I watched as season 6 episode and thought wth is going on I miss this show I should pick up where I left off in season 2.

I’m on the mother-in-law’s computer, so I don’t have Photoshop (or enough attention span to really care), but Keep Calm and FML would make a good addition…
April 5, 2011 at 10:21 pm
I would buy “Keep calm and carrion” so hard.
April 5, 2011 at 10:24 pm
This just in. A variation I would purchase.

“Put the money in the goddamn bag” is my favorite but I can’t use that as my facebook profile picture so if it pleases the maker can I use it as my facebook profile? I don’t buy posters but perhaps my friends will.

Listen, I am not sure if it has something to do with the time, or the amount of medication i am taking, But I am willing to pay the going rate for the keep calm and namaste bitches poster. Seriously let me know!
April 6, 2011 at 5:18 am
OMFG I need them all. ALL. The kids are looking at me as if I have lost my mind…
April 6, 2011 at 5:28 am
If that Keep Calm and Carrion had a turkey vulture instead of a raven and was made into a poster, I would give the maker all of my money. /Ornithology dork
April 6, 2011 at 11:54 am
I have them! http://www.etsy.com/shop/secretalice
April 6, 2011 at 6:06 pm
I hope you like money, because you are getting all of it from my wallet. I also passed this along to a friend who is a fellow turkey vulture fan.

For some reason this thing is not taking my comments, so I’ll try again:
The Keep Calm and Carrion is a copy of mine that I sell in my shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/secretalice. I have three designs for carrion as well as zombies and ruby slippers.
I don’t know where the one shown here came from.
I also sell them on shirts, etc at Zazzle.

Shouldn’t that be, “crease and desist”?
April 7, 2011 at 5:10 pm
I approve this suggestion.
April 6, 2011 at 10:14 pm
as sad as it is, these made my entire night. I would definitely buy the HitchHikers Guide, and the Change the Size of Your Smell. I laughed at that one, and my friend who doesn’t know about these asked what was funny… I think she thinks I’m abusing my meds, in the not-fun way.
April 6, 2011 at 10:18 pm
oh, and carry on my wayward son? pure damned genius. like, pinky and the brain type genius.
April 7, 2011 at 1:17 am
My crafty little heart went pitter-pat to see that my douchetastic version of the poster made it onto this special post. Thank you kindly for considering it whimsicle enough to join the circle of fuckery. Now, how do I get some money for my awesome copyright infringement skills? No seriously, I need a boob job.

I’m late to the party, but here’s mine:
April 7, 2011 at 9:34 am
I wonder if people didn’t get the Silence of the Lambs reference, or if they are just negative nancys and disliked it because they don’t like Buffalo Bill.
April 7, 2011 at 9:36 am
Or the fact that I didn’t see the other poster that referenced it. I don’t read the comments… just the article post. At least, now I know what it was hated so.
April 7, 2011 at 10:38 am
I think I need several of these.
April 8, 2011 at 1:13 am
So secretalice tweeted this recently:
Someone listed a bad copy of my poster on Regretsy http://tiny.cc/nejw5 Joke’s on them – now I’m getting sales! http://tiny.cc/j15xf hahaha! ”
tera_olivehue 2 days ago
We liked the poster. We wanted to buy the poster. We found and bought the poster as a response to liking the poster. HAHAHAHAHA!!! Wait, what? What a bitch.
April 9, 2011 at 7:39 am
LOL!
April 17, 2011 at 6:44 pm
That sign will never die! I’ve been selling various ‘Keep Calm’ parodies at craft shows for a couple years now. I never put them up in my Etsy shop though because there are just too fucking many variations sold there so I didn’t bother. It’s pretty funny to see how many people have come up with the “carrion” version (the first one I did was a carrion beetle, people didn’t get it =/

Here are some that I’ve made in the past. Long live irreverence! (And yea, I’m a big HP nerd)
