As you know, I occasionally feature things that are so wonderful, they kick your ass down the street. This is one of those times.

Can I order a bear in lumberjack clothing embracing a blind woman wearing mittens?

Daniel-san is looking like the long-lost brother of Vasquez from Aliens. But Charles Bronson is bad ass.

Those are actually kinda cool

I’m glad to see they’ve had two sales now; their work is great and fills that void between painted canvas and painted velvet quite nicely!

Impressive. Especially considering the medium. Could be a train wreck, but it isn’t.

wow these are actually rather nice

I’m totally sending this link to my mum. She doesn’t quite “get” why I love Regretsy, but she’ll appreciate Mr. Bronson. (her words: “Charlie is my man!” and Dad doesn’t care).

Molly Ringwald has never looked better. Seriously. But I’m not sure what her lips are doing in Nick Cage’s hair…

I did a similar project (on a much smaller scale) with my students and was amazed at how tedious and tricky it actually was. $200 is reasonable.

this must take an insane amount of work. not my cup of tea, but these people are not charging for vague “artistic value” but hard work.

I am absurdly proud that I correctly identified the last one as Harry Dean Stanton but I openly yearn for the Bubbles portrait.

I can’t have art that advertises how infrequently I dust. What do you do to clean it, vacuum it?

Yes! I love this seller- I favorited their “Some Kind of Wonderful” art a while back…I love the “Karate Kid” and “Breakfast Club” stuff, too…makes me think of my childhood in the 80′s and I get all nostalgic and shit. Okay, enough of that

Fan-frakking-tastic! It’s people like these two that give me hope for crafting everywhere. Thanks for showing us the good stuff HK!

It wouldn’t matter if these were made out of navel lint, fairy dust or pulp, they’re just plain good , with plenty of graphic & surface interest .
For a split second tho’,I wavered between the last one being Jeremy Irons or Harry Dean Stanton.

Where Van Gogh meets velvet painting! I though HDS might have been William Burroughs, but that’s too spooky.

@#19, I’ve actually seen the work of an artist who uses dryer lint as her medium. She takes donations, too, but I understand she’s pretty specific about how you need to wash your laundry if you’re going to give her lint (which I could understand; she got far more colors going on in her work than you’d think are possible from the medium).

The Charles Bronson is just awesome.
September 15, 2010 at 9:04 pm
I’ve made a few yarn paintings. They aren’t hard but take up a lot of time. Mine aren’t quite as awesome because I was sort of practicing a just made copies. I did that Dylan silhouette poster with the colored hair and a Roy Lichtenstein painting in yarn. They look nice since there are big blocks of solid colors as opposed to shading. :p

That Charles Bronson portrait is amazing, looks like he’s getting ready to kick Jaws’ ass.

Yarn’t you going to tell us who everyone is? Not all of us are quite as well-versed in pop culture as we might be.

Karate kid getting bummed..

I remember trying to do some “yarn art” many years ago, and I wound up with a big pile of yarn scraps glued in a large mound, 2 cats and my hands covered with glue, and bits of yarn glued in random places all over my apartment.
Mad props to this artist!

I admire anyone who can make a picture look like the person. As a crocheter, I’m in awe that this is yarn!
September 16, 2010 at 1:50 pm
I was going to buy the last one until I learned it WASN’T F. Murray Abraham.
September 16, 2010 at 2:54 pm
The Molly Ringwald is kick awesome!!! I wonder if she will do a Judd Nelson with coke on his nose?

I’m getting ‘Noel Eichman’ … thoroughly confused. Who is this and why the devanagiri script for a western name. ??????
