She lives in my town of birth , has some very decent & well made looking stuff in her shop , and has a defined aesthetic so I’ll cut her some slack.

@ #7 DrunkenAtheist: The listing DOES show the earrings on actual ears. The photo of the model wearing the earrings was edited out. I’m not sure why. Maybe it’s because she looks really worried about getting tetanus.

The funny thing is, way, way, back when I was a junior high schooler and rebellious youth I did make a pair of paperclip earrings. And by that I mean I took the paperclips off my Dad’s desk and stuck them through the holes in my ears.

My nephew used to make pretty sea-glass earrings — swap the “paperclip” for glass and make it all silver – basically, his were better quality and sold for $15.

So I was at this party, right? and everyone was getting drunk and one poor sod was enlisting in the Army and someone decided he needed pierced ears, so they pierced his ears with a safety pin and then put the paplerclips in there, and told him that he couldn’t take them out for 2 weeks or he’d get a horrible infection and he was young enough and trusting enough to believe them. The end.

Inspired by the impending thud of the second dip in the ‘double-dip recession’, I dug out a couple of paperclips from the back of my home office desk drawer and decorated them with leftover silver wire from that year when I tried to find myself by taking jewelry making at the YMCA. =)
