Drea is an Etsy seller, a cancer survivor and a 25 year old Navy wife. And she’s been trying to raise funds for The American Cancer Society Relay for Life.
Drea walks for her mom, who had breast cancer. She walks for her grandfather, who died a month after her mother’s mastectomy. And she walks for six other cancer victims in her family. “We do what we can to make sure that future generations won’t have to worry about cancer.”
This year is really important to Drea. “My mom is having surgery the week before, and she can’t make it to the track at all. So I’m hoping to raise enough money to really lift her spirits.”
To reach her goal, Drea decided to try to put together some Regretsy themed auctions to fund the American Cancer Society. So she started a thread, asking for help.
Unfortunately, bringing up Regretsy in the wrong place can create a lot of problems. Drea’s simple request turned into twelve pages of insults and abuse. The thread was eventually closed down, but what a low point for all concerned. Convo me for some perspective.
I don’t want to see Regretsy fans punished. Frankly, reading the shit I write is punishment enough.
So here’s the next Alchemy Project: We’re going to help Drea this week.
All day today, I’ll be posting Regretsy-inspired jewelry auctions on Ebay. I’ll put up a new one every few hours. Everything has been designed and donated by Etsy artists, And it’s all going to Drea’s team.
Additionally, I will once again be donating ALL royalties for any book purchased through the link on the left, and Amazon will kick in an additional 5%.
You can also donate directly to Drea’s fund.
I admit, Regretsy is a pretty snarky place. It’s not exactly a purely philanthropic endeavor here, we make fun of shit. But one of the things I like about doing this, and about all of you, is that we can do both. We do it all the time.
So let’s do it.
