Sewing Machine Update
Our last Alchemy Fund project raised enough cash to buy a new, professional sewing machine for Etsy seller HiBird. We did this through direct Paypal donations, sales of Zazzle merchandise, and a special link that allowed me to donate all royalties from my book sales, along with an additional 5% from Amazon.
Today, I got photos from HiBird’s studio, showing us all how the machine is working so far.

From Robin:
To all who helped this dream come true:
This is awesome. Learning all this machine and software have to offer, I continue to be amazed at the possibilities.
Thank you does not suffice. There are no words that express my gratitude for your generosity to help me. To everyone who helped, I’m humbled and so very blessed.
With love from Robin

From Amaila:
Thank you for rallying the Regretsy crew for such worthy causes, and for reminding me that a sewing machine can totally change someone’s life.
Incidentally, I live in Jerusalem, and am happy to report that you have quite a following among the Orthodox Jews here. Awesomeschmaltz.
Highfive,
Amalia

Awesome-Shmaltzum Toilet Paper Fuckery Extreme!
If I had a machine like that i’d be afraid of it getting online and taking over Skynet.
May 22, 2010 at 7:23 pm
Butbutbut… she spelled “whimsicle” right!
May 22, 2010 at 7:39 pm
Awww, that’s awesome!
I feel all warm and fuzzy inside and it has nothing to do with the jambalaya I had for dinner.
May 22, 2010 at 7:53 pm
There’s something in my eye.
May 22, 2010 at 8:09 pm
May the machine’s cryhole fill only with tears of joy.

You’ve got to be kidding. That thing is incredible. It’s a “sewing machine” like a 787 is a “paper airplane”.

Anyone can be snarky on the Internet, but how many people are doing so while truly making the world a better place? Helen Killer & the Regretsy community: you all blow my freaking mind.
May 22, 2010 at 11:21 pm
“I believe that every human mind feels pleasure in doing good to another.” – Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826) 3rd U.S. President (1801-09)
Helen Killer does many good deeds and those deeds have a positive and meaningful effect on people’s lives.

Cool sewing machine! And regards from Beitar Illit, a town 20 minutes from Jerusalem!

Gunfunnit “Killer” … you’re a real Mensch. I’m just so warm and fuzzy that I think I may be purring.

@Bronc# 13- There’s an expression in Arabic,:
al ha kefak, which roughly translates to ‘awesome’-and is widely used in Israel. I’ve always tweaked it to sound like alla-K-fuck-I think it also works here !

I’m absofuckinglutely verkelmpt!
May 23, 2010 at 11:55 am
I took my new bag to a sewing class yesterday and was disappointed that no one asked me about it. I was so ready to spread the word.
May 23, 2010 at 1:55 pm
Regretsy – it’s not just for gentiles anymore!
May 23, 2010 at 1:56 pm
The “tool guy” in me is simply amazed by the accuracy of that machine–cool!
May 23, 2010 at 4:21 pm
#23 – I thought at first that said “genitals”. Which is funny because it’s every bit as true that way too.
May 23, 2010 at 4:41 pm
That was so nice of all of you.
May 23, 2010 at 5:29 pm
Heh…Regretsy was never just for gentiles…HK is at least half-Jew, Bronc may or may not be all-Jew, and plenty of us riff raff are all-Jew (including me).
Anyhoodle, this is so totally awesomeschmalz.
May 23, 2010 at 7:23 pm
Officially speaking, I am one quarter Jew. On my father’s side. I know that doesn’t make me one, technically, but I’m sure it would be good enough for Hitler.
May 23, 2010 at 7:45 pm
FUCK.
I was having this terrible debate already: Do I get the badgers mug or the sewing machine mug, but NOW I have THIS to choose from too. Dammit all, I’ll never be able to make up my mind now. Can you make one with a hologram than changes between all three or something?
