New Alchemy Project
By now you know we raise money for charitable works here. Sometimes we help organizations, and sometimes we help individuals.
This time, we’re going to help an individual. We’re going to buy this sewing machine for an Etsy seller in need. Her husband is going through his second round of chemo, and this particular machine would really change her life.
This machine has larger hoops, more software, and lots of features that will help her grow her business and take more orders. It also has a $2700 price tag, so this is going to take some doing.
I really love this seller. She is an exceptionally positive and generous woman. I’m respecting her privacy, but I will tell you that she is featured in the book, and has been a good friend to the site.
I want to do everything I can to make this happen. So in addition to donating any proceeds we get from our Zazzle store, I’m going to donate royalties from my book sales.
If you’re thinking about buying my book, please buy it using this link:
If you do, my royalties for every sale will go directly to this fund, and Amazon will kick in another 5%. It’s not a huge chunk of change, but it’s actually more of a cut than we get from Zazzle.
I’ve used Amazon for years to raise money for Project Angel Food. It’s a good system, and it’s completely honest and reliable. All the money will be diverted into a special account just for this purpose, so I’ll never see a dime.
I realize it’s unlikely we can sell enough books this way to make this happen. But if we can even get to the halfway point, through either book sales or Zazzle sales or both, I’ll write a check for the other $1500.
So thanks for thinking about it. It’s a really good cause.
And if by any chance you can get this machine for a better price, let me know!
Awesome cross stitch by katiekutthroat. Click the picture to be taken to her Etsy store.

We wanna help, April/Ann/Helen, and with belated Mother’s Day, graduations, weddings, Father’s Day and other gift-giving obligations upon us, give us more snarky merchandise to help to fill the bill beyond the book sales!

Here as always, to help! I have earned a little bit through some alchemy sales and I still dunno where to send a check to, or who to make it payable to.
Let me know if there is a paypal or site and I can donate the proceeds directly, thanks

You are awesome April.

I imagine the seller as hibird. Of course I’m just guessing. Anyway kudos.

What a great cause to help her business during this difficult time!
I’ve got a few things I can put toward this project, which I’ll put on my Etsy site this evening–just follow my link.

If we want to ‘donate’ something with proceeds to go to the fund, what would be the best way to do it? Is there a paypal to have it paid directly to? I’m thinking one of my tattooed cashmere sock monkeys (cashmeredejavu) with a regretsy tramp stamp

Happy to help out. I sent an email..
May 10, 2010 at 5:21 pm
Excellent. I do still need a Mother’s Day present. (Yeah, I know, that was yesterday. Being away for college gives me a little bit of leeway.)

@fluffynotfat the image of the book is the link
i’d love to just donate some cash too, since i already have the book and i think i figured out who it is.
May 10, 2010 at 5:26 pm
I’d also like to designate something in my Etsy shop to boost the donations. Will you let us know where to send the money? (Book purchased through link!)
May 10, 2010 at 5:26 pm
is there a way to donate directly to her or to the sewing machine fund? I already have the book!
May 10, 2010 at 5:32 pm
I would make a donation if there was a paypal or other account open to make a cash donation.

This is what I love best about Regretsy: snark with a heart! Please set up a PayPal link; I’d love to donate directly.
May 10, 2010 at 5:53 pm
#10 Yeah I figured that out after looking at it 4 or 5 times… not always the brightest star
May 10, 2010 at 5:54 pm
Actually, I just bought the book from Amazon yesterday… I finally had a few bucks to spare. Hope I didn’t buy it too early to be counted!
May 10, 2010 at 6:00 pm
I was gong to buy it at Borders a couple weeks ago, but decided to wait. I just bought it via the Amazon link- I’m consistently impressed with the good causes Regretsy donates to.
May 10, 2010 at 6:14 pm
Wowee! That is some machine!
I also vote for a direct PayPal donation link.
May 10, 2010 at 6:20 pm
Yes, a direct Paypal donation link, please. I think you’ll be astonished at the good you can do with one!
May 10, 2010 at 6:21 pm
Ah Regretsy, where compassion shines , is always heartfelt and coexists so sweetly with snark.
Count me in on wanting a direct paypal link.
May 10, 2010 at 6:24 pm
Yes, a paypal link. I already bought the book, and would love to donate
May 10, 2010 at 6:37 pm
You come to sign your book in Toronto – then we can talk.
May 10, 2010 at 6:39 pm
I love you, Regretsy Lady.
May 10, 2010 at 6:55 pm
Bought the book!
Glad to help and I now have a wonderful birthday gift to give!
May 10, 2010 at 6:59 pm
Aw, dammit. I’ve been boycotting Amazon for years, but you have forced me to make an exception. I’d also make a direct PayPal donation if a link were set up.
May 10, 2010 at 7:14 pm
#9 Your mom still loves you even without a gift. But this would be a good one.
May 10, 2010 at 7:15 pm
And I vote for the direct donation link, cause I think I know what I’m getting for Mother’s Day.
May 10, 2010 at 9:52 pm
I too vote direct donation link because I would love to help a fellow Illy… Illinoisian… Illinoisist… flatlander.
May 10, 2010 at 9:57 pm
Refresh the site. The latest post has a cash donation link.

This is so awesome! Sewing makes me happy, I can’t even imagine how much this gift will lift this woman’s spirits. Hooray for kindness!

This is so wonderful! Really! I hope the money gets raised
