Who knew she had a show?
By now you may know that I’ll be speaking at ROFL Con tomorrow evening.
ROFL Con is an internet culture conference held yearly at MIT in Cambridge. The conference is “devoted to discussing what makes memes work, why they work, and where it’s all going”. And also this happens.
I’ve been invited to speak on a panel with Lamebook, Awkward Family Photos and Brad O’ Farrell, and I don’t mind telling you, I’m flattered to be in the same company as these guys.
And I’m also pretty pleased to be the only woman on the panel. Comedy – particularly internet comedy – is largely a man’s game, so I’m glad to park my child-bearing hips between these boys and represent for the cooter contingency.
The name of the panel is The Good, The Bad and the Awkward, and it runs from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM EST. We’ll be talking about what I call “Fail Culture”, and the value of not giving everyone a trophy. At least, that’s what I’ll be talking about.
While the conference sold out a week ago, you can watch this panel and all the others via live streaming on the ROFL Con web site. There will be a lot of really interesting people participating over the two day event, so check the schedule for things that interest you. Then you can sit back, and drunkenly watch the whole thing in your dirty underwear.
Which, coincidentally, is exactly what I’ll be doing.
