Ooops-she meant “Once your order is complete and payment is made, I will thread the needle and begin your custom embroidery. Sewing takes 3-4 weeks and (NOT Drop) shipping can take an additional 3-12 days.”
Well, thank God she’s there to “contact the manufacturer” because it would be way too hard for me.
If I’m shelling out sixty bucks for shoes, I’m getting a way cooler design on mine. Like comic sans font saying: “I paid sixty bucks for these lame-ass shoes when I could have gotten some awesome Converse Chuck Taylor high-tops instead.”
I want these, but I want them in red and yellow, and maybe with Karl Marx on one and the sickle and hammer on the other. I am sad that they’re not handmade, but I am happy that they exist. I am giddy about this! I would wear them with my cyrillic “For the motherland” shirt.
My Zazzle Keds sell very well, even with the high base price. That said, I sure as hell wouldn’t try to push them on Etsy as handmade. They are not. BTW, you can upload and customize your own designs. It’s really cool. http://www.zazzle.com/dynomoose*/shoes?st=date_created#products
Does this mean I can design something, but have children in a sweatshop make it, and still sell it on Etsy? All I have to do is contact them, right? RAD!!!!
Okay. I just checked the terms of use. If this seller is having the shoes shipped to herself, then reshipping them to the buyer, this is kosher. Expensive, but within the rules.
@52, Yes, and it’s above a casino. The irony was not lost on me. I highlighted the address (which featured both the McDonalds and the casino) on all the postcards I sent.
I looked at the terms of use and actually the designed for me shoes are considered acceptable, as long as she ships the shoes herself. Considering how expensive that would be (paying shipping twice), I kind of doubt she’s doing that.
Wow, I got a hidden status!
I was just wondering if anyone else remembers Khrushchev pounding his shoe in the UN. I do, altho I was a kid. It’s the sort of thing a kid remembers.
And 5 thumbs down! Now I feel special!

In Communist Russia, shoe wears YOU!
April 28, 2010 at 9:40 am
I don’t know where to start – are her color choices meant to be ironic? Is she supporting a soft revolution?
April 28, 2010 at 9:41 am
Keds are $60?!? Wow.
April 28, 2010 at 9:42 am
It really should say “Hammer and Whim-sickle”
April 28, 2010 at 9:43 am
But do o they come in Marx & Engels plaid?

The design is upside down! It should be readable to everyone other than the person wearing the shoes.
Dumbass seller.
April 28, 2010 at 10:23 am
Manufacturing takes 3-4 weeks? How long does it take to tape a stencil onto the shoe and hit it with a can of spray paint?
April 28, 2010 at 10:25 am
I’m feeling kind of sick(le).
April 28, 2010 at 10:26 am
LOL! Upside down is not an isolated mistake. ALL of the shoes by this seller have the designs upside down on the toe. Idiot. Idiot. Idiot.

Wow she even admits in the description that they aren’t handmade in any way, yet still on etsy, now I know I have my own manifesto:
etsy commrades, you become more and more like the capitalist pig ebay!
April 28, 2010 at 10:45 am
I wouldn’t want to wear those shoes, they would be bad for my feet.
I might get hammer toe or sickle sole.
April 28, 2010 at 11:00 am
I get it! I get it!!! This item is an obscure reference to a recent TwoLumps comic

April 28, 2010 at 11:57 am
I don’t think she designed this, i think the former Soviet Union designed this.
