YOUR AUCTION PREVIEW: 4/25

On April 28th, Housing Works Bookstore in NYC is hosting a Regretsy book signing and live auction . Housing Works is a nonprofit bookstore and cafe, where all proceeds benefit homeless people living with HIV/AIDS.
I’ve been collecting your donated arts and crafts, and have put together 10 lots to auction off. I’ll be featuring one per day until April 28th. All proceeds will go directly to Housing Works.
If you see something here you want, come down to Housing Works and place a bid during the auction. The event starts at 7:00 PM, and all the details can be found here.

I have long loved the deer picture, and was thoroughly disturbed by the other! Bid high people!

I looked at Emily’s store and I really like her work. But I gotta say, women who fully embrace and exalt their lunar phases are full-on shit-crazy and should be avoided at all costs.
April 25, 2010 at 2:02 pm
forget about the Menstrual Night. They should take care of that burning sensation.
April 25, 2010 at 2:54 pm
This deer one makes me smile. “MENSTRUAL NIGHT” is actually a very good painting as long as you don’t reveal the title, but it’s “goddess like” in general. I hope both fetch lots ‘o money!

From the description, I wouldn’t have thought I’d like Menstrual Night, …but I love it. “What, no vaginas?” It really appeals to my blood fetish, in a tasteful and beautiful way.
Can’t believe I just used the word tasteful, on Regretsy, without irony.
As for the deer photo, I just wanna know one thing. What is that right in the center? What IS that?

#3 @coolpauper-Burning sensation? Bwahahaha….
More like a friggin’ inferno, & no way am I ever celebrating my little devil of a ‘friend’ like that. Emily has some chops though and her work is fantastic-what a nice contribution from both artists.
I so live in the deer world , this scenario would not be out of place at all…totally precious .

I love the deer one. The other freaks me out though she’s a very good artist.
#5: I assumed it was deer poo

Etsy is broken. I was just about to heart Kristi’s shop, when it told me about a “brief hiccup.” Now I can’t click the links or go to the etsy homepage. Is anyone else having this problem?
April 25, 2010 at 3:30 pm
#8 mtopia,yes hiccups, you’re not alone deer.
April 25, 2010 at 3:34 pm
Yup, mtopia, I think everyone is having a brief hiccup.
For the record, I have never, even a little bit, embraced my lunar phases. More like dreaded. What I fully embraced was the (early but very much wanted) END of my lunar phases! The picture is well done and she is a good artist but I could never have that hanging in my house for fear of the nightmares I would have of my lunar phases returning.
April 25, 2010 at 3:38 pm
Thanks for the reassurance. And as far as lunar phases go, astronomically speaking, they’re pretty cool. Controlling the tides and whatnot, but I wish they would leave me out of their sphere of lunar influence. It could be worse, though. We could be living in Doris Lessing’s The Cleft. Pregnancy was regulated by the moon somehow! That is a nightmare.

Girls night out! Love it!

I adore Kristi’s photography- I especially like the pink frosted donut with the policemen “sprinkles” on it…
April 25, 2010 at 7:09 pm
I like the artists statement:
“for women who fully embrace and exalt their lunar phases”
Oh really? So why was the background painted in a hellish motif complete with flames, tortured souls, shadows and blood?
I also like the dude in the lower right corner with that “oh shit” expression on his face.

@ #5 Vile & Evil Debbie Downer :
“As for the deer photo, I just wanna know one thing. What is that right in the center? What IS that?”
The stag is asking that question too! He has that WTF thing going on with his antlers.
April 25, 2010 at 9:52 pm
The “thing” in the middle is another teensy deer, but it’s laying down…and out of focus. It could be easily cloned out, but I think the photo would lose it’s WTF nature, which would suck.
April 25, 2010 at 10:15 pm
I contemplated roadkill.
April 26, 2010 at 6:44 am
It’s a shame the about Menstrual Night painting: The painting part is much better than the stuff usually featured here, but the subject is one that most normal women could do without.
April 26, 2010 at 10:59 pm
The WTF thing with his antlers…. epic! I thought it looked like Nemo (is he a clownfish?!), which I found confusing, but then again. . . there are deer on a toothbrush, so why not!
April 26, 2010 at 11:19 pm
oh, and I had to favorite her page! Love her photos!
