All right, I’m going to level with you.
This is not exactly your typical Regretsy post. But Bronc and I were having so much fun animating yesterday that we decided to do one more.
By now, you’ve probably seen this commercial:
Here’s the Regretsy version. Enjoy it while you can.
Holy jumping shit, this is really exciting.
Housing Works Bookstore Cafe is hosting a NYC Regretsy book signing party on April 28th. Housing Works Bookstore Cafe is a nonprofit bookstore, cafe, and event venue, where all proceeds benefit homeless people living with HIV/AIDS.
This is going to be such a great night for me, and I want it to be a great night for them too. So I’ve decided to hold a live auction of 10 Regretsy pieces, in escalating degrees of whimsicle fuckery, and we’re going to try to raise a pantload of cash for Housing Works!
That’s where you come in.
I need 10 pieces that have either been featured on Regretsy, by artists who are in the Regretsy book, or pieces that just really capture the spirit of . . . whatever it is we do here.
I am hoping to get donated pieces, but if your work isn’t too expensive, I may be able to buy it from you.
The sellers who contribute will be promoted on the Regretsy site, Facebook fan page and Twitter feed. You’ll also be recognized on the Housing Works web site, Tumblr and Twitter feed, as well as their enormous event mailing list. And your pieces will be on display at the bookstore the week prior to the event, and your business cards will be available to customers.
I’ll also link your store again when I post pictures of the event, and pictures of your piece with the winning bidder. All in all, it’s a lot of exposure and a great way to help some needy people.
You can make a piece specifically for this event, but it must arrive in New York no later than Monday, April 20th. You’ll need to ship it directly to the store so I don’t have to fly across the country with it (I don’t want to have to explain a giant tampon sculpture to the TSA). I will pay for postage and handling fees.
If you’re interested in donating a piece for this auction, please contact me right away!
If you’d like to donate to Housing Works, click here. If you live in the NYC area, Housing Works also accepts walk-in donations of books, housewares, clothing, artwork, CDs, DVDs, shoes or furniture. They also pick-up furniture on request.
