You guys, look at the expression on the apple’s face. Does a toddler look that ashamed to take a bath with her parents? This isn’t a confusion about the name of their baby; this is some kind of non-consensual inter-kingdom swinging scenario.
#21 razberries : Right on! I totally enjoyed your pic! As I read down the thread I was thinking someone needed to do that and I haven’t got level 4 skills like that.
I must say I enjoy the artwork (not so much this particular piece) but haven’t a clue where I’d put it. Maybe it would fit in nicely next to the finger paintings on my fridge.
What would be great is if these stars would sign the art and let people bid on it for charity. I’m thinking the Bubble Baths For All Children Everywhere Foundation (BBFACEF). And if that charity doesn’t exist, it should bc a life without bubble baths is simply incomplete.
Blondeweezie- I love that sellers robots are just like us series.
It’s sad that this one is so piss poor. That apple looks like no matter how hard it scrubs it just can’t get the shame off.
Now that I’ve read the artist’s enlightening explanation that might have been even more helpful if it’d been part of the original listing, my reaction to the art is still meh.
#25 AwwwwwwwSnap : Ha ha ha! Excellent, just what I was thinking!
#38 heartsandlaserbeams : “someone bought courtney & david the original painting as a gift, report is the family loves it.”
- If this is true, it puts a whole other perspective of awesomeness on the painting! And whether people like your art or not, kudos to you for your attitude and for being pleased to be featured on here!
My question is why is the apple hugging him/herself with that worried anxty look on its face?
I think if the bath was chocolate fondue it would be more pleasing to the eye.
Since when did courtney cox and david arquette become nuts ? !!! They’re not really NUTTY in my book n-e ways…
I really like some of the artists paintings even this one aside from the pictures of the heads, but i dont like the idea of celebrities in art, or using their fame to sell it. Celebrities suck, everyone wants to be one these days…
heartsandlaserbeams- love that you decided to drop in- LOL…hope you didn’t mind my coco puff interpretation..hahaha
i just clicked on your link attached to your name- ok, the cartoon sandwich, milk, and hotdog are awesome. (you know i already think the robots rock)were those in your etsy shop?
I really want that tub. Do you know how many kids you could bathe at one time in that tub?! Not to mention how many kids you could forget about as you soak away your stress. Ah, bubbles. :]
ok i LOVE this one… http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=38098709
this is my kinda humor! i didn’t have a chance before to look at all the other stuff in the etsy shop…the oreo speedwagon would be great in a kitchen
see that’s the thing – this was an early piece so it’s obviously not as good as the robots or other more recent stuff. people still buy prints from the series so it’s still in the shop. the martha piece got featured in a storque article on etsy, and all the original 5″ x 5″ acrylics from this series sold, and the oreo speedwagon and soy division pieces are hanging on the wall at etsy headquarters… so a little razzin i can handle!
but again – people still buy things from that unicorn series so it stays online. le sigh…
the most exciting thing in hearts and laserbeams land is i collaborated with the sampler to design swag totes for this weekend’s golden globe awards, check out the final design here!
the 2010 poster has images of different movies…sherlock holmes is the hat, precious movie is the necklace, and 9 is the movie by the same name…
LOL, sorry fo5ter, i answered for heartsandlaserbeams
Ok, even though I’ve read all the posts I’m gonna say what I thought when I first saw it. I think it’s cute. I don’t ‘get it’, but that’s nothing new, it’s quirky and different and features two people (and one fruit) I recognize. And I like the Arquette family.
The next time I stand in an arts supply store, having to place an order for what I need, b/c they ran out of stock, I’ll think back to this. I’ll be comforted/enraged that my grade may be in jeopardy b/c someone purchased the last pack of archival quality matte paper I needed, so they could produce this.
January 12, 2010 at 5:27 pm
Oh, you just can’t beat View It In a Room. You just can’t. Even with these two and their pectinimous child.
January 12, 2010 at 5:27 pm
Looks like an episode of Blue’s Clues gone horribly wrong.
January 12, 2010 at 5:28 pm
Ummm…Apple is the child of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin. COCO is David & Courtney’s daughter???
January 12, 2010 at 5:31 pm
LOL! Except isn’t their daughter named Coco?
January 12, 2010 at 5:31 pm
i dont even know these people and i still laughed at the viiar
January 12, 2010 at 5:35 pm
Wow. That’s just…special. I dread what’s going to happen to Banana.

January 12, 2010 at 5:45 pm
Golly, almost thought those two nuts were really in the bath (once I got past the glued on head atop of silly putty). But who wears a hat in the tub?

I’m really puzzling over the audience for such a piece.
January 12, 2010 at 5:57 pm
Gotta be careful when you go bobbing for apples in that tub.

There’s my cherry!

View It In A Room has inspired me to buy a hat like that and wear it in the tub. And befriending a giant apple is next on my to-do list.
January 12, 2010 at 6:17 pm
Once again I’m left wondering what the sellers are smoking and where can I get some.
January 12, 2010 at 6:27 pm
When did crappy photoshop work on ripped off celebrity photos become artisan craft? Did the National Enquirer stop accepting submissions?

this is all i think of when i hear that they named their daugther coco…yum
January 12, 2010 at 6:34 pm
I appreciate that it is an “archival quality print” on “high-quality matte photo paper” and that it is “ready to frame”.
I wouldn’t pay $20 for it any other way!
January 12, 2010 at 6:43 pm
@ #21 Raz– That’s the most likely threesome there.
January 12, 2010 at 6:49 pm
Hmm..not only it’s NOT legal to sell
(I think it’s safe to assume the seller
did NOT take their picture), she’s
calling them “nuts”.
Tsk, tsk, tsk.
Again, strange..the rest of the work
is quite nice.
January 12, 2010 at 6:56 pm
I hope Courtney doesn’t see this. Her arms are four times the size they are in real life.

Franks and beans! Franks and beans!
January 12, 2010 at 9:49 pm
I heart robots who heart cupcakes, but I feel really bad for that apple. Why are they so oblivious to its distress? So cruel.
January 12, 2010 at 10:33 pm
AAHHAHAHAHAH OMG I MADE REGRETSY!!!
ok a couple of things about this piece:
1) it actually is an archival print of an acrylic painting. the faces aren’t photoshopped; they’re faces taken from a tabloid.
2) someone bought courtney & david the original painting as a gift, report is the family loves it. (i’m not making that up)
3) this was created years before coco was born & gweneth named her kid apple.
4) say what ya will, i still love this piece – thanks for checkin my work…
January 12, 2010 at 10:58 pm
I was completely unaware there were people with fruit fetishes.
Frankly heartsandlaserbeams I find this quite apeeling!
♥
