My great-great grandfather lost three brothers in the war, and barely survived himself. For the common man in the South (and my family are about as common as you can get--they're all Cajun), going to war was about protecting your family. The northern "liberators" were pretty barbaric themselves towards the southerners, especially (and here's the best part) towards minorities. Racism was as prevalent in the North as in the South, and Lincoln himself made snide remarks about Blacks. So don't be so smug when talking about southerners when your own people were no different. By your own logic, no one in the United States should be proud of their own "nation of seditious traitors". All that aside, the dress does look pretty trashy, though I'm not really a fan of any clothing made from a flag.
