Regretsy News

There’s a veritable pantload of Regretsy news today, so let’s stop pulling our puds and get on with it, shall we?
REGRETSY ON HUFFINGTON POST
Regretsy is one of 7 sites featured on the Comedy page at the Huffington Post today!
There’s a lot of very important voting going on over there about which site is a bigger waste of time. We’re trailing behind girlsinforumswhohatemeanpeople.com, but we’re way ahead of arguingincommentsabout whethersomethingbelongshereornot.net.
HATS FOR CHEMO PATIENTS
We have selected Linda at Wine Diva Designs to knit hats for the Hat Box Foundaton, and in fact, she’s already started! Click here to see the beautiful and versatile hats she’s making for chemo patients.
I chose Linda not only for her ability and enthusiasm, but for her compassion and generosity. It’s a cause very close to her heart, and she’s making almost nothing for her efforts. So thank you Linda, for making the most of the money we’ve raised for this project.
OKAY BUT THIS IS THE REALLY BIG NEWS
Because you’ve been so good, you can open one gift early.

yay yay yay oh yay!!!!! I love the holidays – Regretsy style!!!
December 7, 2009 at 11:49 am
But I already peaked at that one.
Can I have another one mom, please? Or am I a bad girl for peeking early? You know it’s never enough with us!

Those hats are both cute and clever! And they don’t resemble vampire eyeballs which is a super plus
December 7, 2009 at 11:53 am
I love the yarn she used on that hat, I hope we get some photos of someone delivering these to the patients. This is such a great cause, Thank you Helen!

Love the new website. How cool!!!!! And the wine diva’s website is also very beautiful. Great job Helen!
December 7, 2009 at 11:57 am
Oh my, I’m in unchartered waters here. I’m about to post a serious & heart felt comment. Thanks for choosing chemo caps. I’m a cancer survivor so this means a lot to me. Excellent choice!
December 7, 2009 at 12:06 pm
I’ve been lurking for some time — love your site!
Just wanted to say what a classy thing this is to do the hats for chemo patients. As a knitter and a picky person, I find them beautiful. Thank you for doing this.
December 7, 2009 at 12:13 pm
I was so smiley and happy looking at the chemo caps on Wine Diva’s site (and the other handknits) that it took me a bit to realize what Helen did with John and Yoko there.
December 7, 2009 at 12:16 pm
Yay hats! Yay museum of bad Etsy shit!!!
December 7, 2009 at 12:20 pm
Hats for cancer patients? Man, you really are just in it for the money.
December 7, 2009 at 12:26 pm
Hugs for Linda! Great choice for the artist, Helen, love the colors and styles she has in her shop.
What are the plans for View It In a Room? Bad art, badly executed, but *not* from Etsy? If so, that’s a mighty big universe to comb through.
December 7, 2009 at 12:26 pm
What gorgeous hats she is making! Wine Diva rocks!!
And FYI, Regrets is now #1 on the comedy page!! Woohoo!
December 7, 2009 at 12:34 pm
Holy shit! I got an email from Huff post today
with a list of sites to waste your time on..
I had no idea Regretsy was on the list..wow.
I love Huff, i read it all the time.
December 7, 2009 at 12:37 pm
Thanks Linda and Helen, you’re sweet and sassy!
December 7, 2009 at 12:38 pm
TO HELEN:
You are a SCHWEETIE-MMMAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWHHHHHHH!!!!!
December 7, 2009 at 12:38 pm
Oh, and Linda makes awesome hats,
love those berets!
December 7, 2009 at 12:44 pm
The hats are so cute! LOL – I love that she named one of them “Hipster Hat”.
And YAY! for the Regretsy Art Gallery. Awesome!
December 7, 2009 at 2:48 pm
Helen – Can I ask you somethin’? (It’s Monday. You are taking questions right??)
Do you Photoshop all these yourself?? If so, you are quite the Pixelmeister (& my inappropriate girlcrush on you just got much worse!)
I am a Photoshop hack — toss a few layers around, merge ‘em, and Wah-Lah. This thing has got reflections in the floor! All the images are sized & seamlessly blended into frames. This shit takes time! If you do these, then you are a wizard. I tip my clonestamp tool to you.
December 7, 2009 at 3:00 pm
Hammie, I’m glad you asked.
I do many of them myself, because my charming fiance is a computer animator, and has taught me quite a few Photoshop tricks. But he does most of the really complex ones, like the splash page on viewitinaroom. And in fact, he’ll be doing almost all of the work on that site.
So really, you should be crushing on both of us.
December 7, 2009 at 3:02 pm
Thanks for the wonderful compliments everyone. I’m almost finished with the second one. Just have to add some whimsicle stuff to it
December 7, 2009 at 3:20 pm
Wow Helen, you and your fiance are quite a duo, just like McMillen and Wife or Hart to Hart! (Not so much like Holmes and Yoyo, though.)
December 7, 2009 at 3:44 pm
Helen – the mystery man is awesome & gets an automatic crush just for being an animator.(Remember when I said that I taught school briefly & got into trouble all the time? I’m a film school flunky. One of the things I did with the kids was have them make stop-motion animations of various historical events. THAT’S NOT PART OF THE NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND PROGRAM!!)
Winediva – Thanks so much for your work. Together (with hats), we warm.
December 7, 2009 at 4:58 pm
Um, oopsie. I think I inadvertently discovered that, once on the Huffington Post voting site, if you keep clicking on the Regretsy pic (Fetal Alcohol Syndrome WC Fields Junior), it allows you to vote multiple times.
Hey, I’m in Chicagoland “Vote Early, Vote Often”.
December 7, 2009 at 7:09 pm
Cap #2 is done and it’s on the website
December 7, 2009 at 7:23 pm
wine diva’s drawstring hat/neck warmer is sooo adorable- she should patent that design if it isn’t already taken??
helen, my hat’s off to you too (no pun intended) for being such a photoshop wiz. i too was wondering about that.
fyi, helen’s fiance is as cute as she is- i have seen photographic evidence to back this theory(sorry not trying to be some lame-o brown noser, just sayin’)
and i love the new site idea- when will it be launching? congrats again on all of your successes!
December 7, 2009 at 7:27 pm
#25 razberries: I’ve seen similar hats and just did my own take on it. Thanks!
December 7, 2009 at 10:22 pm
Thanks for the early present, Helen. Was that photo taken at The Vagoo-genheim Musuem?
December 7, 2009 at 10:33 pm
I’m not a hat person but I’m in love with the Champagne Beret on WineDiva’s site.
December 7, 2009 at 11:50 pm
Hammerhead! I’m totally stealing that stop motion idea! You can totally connect that to your state standards and I bet the kids loved it!
December 8, 2009 at 6:03 am
Helen, now that I have had all night to have horrific nightmares about all things “cock sock” I have to ask, when you launch the new site will we lose the view it in a room here on regretsy? or will you stop putting god aweful wall art here at all?
December 8, 2009 at 7:06 am
great choice…I’m in love with all of the stuff on Wine Diva’s website!
December 8, 2009 at 9:50 am
just to clarify, i would be sad to lose our view in a room here
i don’t know how many more time wasting sites i can keep up with in a day!

Off-topic geekery!: gingerbread, in the words of Robbie Dupree, Steal Away!
All you need is a tripod, dig camera, some kind of basic video editing software, and a more progressive school administration than I had!
This is a good resource:
