This is for the un-social person, who doesn’t want any visitors. Because once someone comes to the door and sees that on the front door, they will be turning right around and leaving. Really scary!!!
I like this seller’s stuff — she’s got a sense of humour about craft and I love the Volvo Lion The wreath is really scary, though — especially since I’m currently re-reading Stephen King’s IT.
It just seems that etsy is turning into the craft show of yesteryear….with the hand CROTCHED scrubbies and what not. Yuck. Etsy used to be so cool, then they let crap like this on.
“To me, clowns aren’t funny. In fact, they’re kind of scary. I’ve wondered where this started and I think it goes back to the time I went to the circus, and a clown killed my dad.”
#25- Having a sense of humor is one thing, slapping glitter and a Barbie head on a cardboard cross and then charging $15 is called living in denial. If you’re going to do kitsch, is should be well done kitsch. Just ask my vast array of tacky Jesuses (Jesi?).
I wonder if this is what scares Steven King at night. Although I am thinking of buying some of this stuff just to keep away the door-to-door salesmen (yes they do come around usually as college or high school students selling magazines) and the people who come around to prosthelytize.
you are off to visit your potential parents-in-law for the first time. they are obviously a whimsicle couple since their front door is sporting that special colourful clowned wreath…
My grandma made something similar back in the 80s. Kept it up in her guest room. My first nightmare was about a giant clown eating my grandma, because of falling asleep with a clown wreath in the room.

“Don’t look in the crawlspace.”
Yep. Nothing says, “Have a John Wayne Gacy Christmas” like a wreath of creepy clown faces.
November 16, 2009 at 1:31 pm
This is my worst nightmare.
November 16, 2009 at 1:31 pm
Geez, even the tags don’t help me know when to hang this. I not good without some sort of direction.
November 16, 2009 at 1:31 pm
It’s only cool if you can squirt water out of the roses… But it’s still friggin’ spooky.

Reminds me of my favorite line from Tommy Boy:
Hey Richard…who’s your favorite Little Rascal? Alfalfa or SPANKY?!! HEHE sinner.

Underneath all that make-up, big red nose and rainbow wig is an etsy crafter waiting to get out…
November 16, 2009 at 3:09 pm
If you change the flowers out seasonally, it’s a wreath for all seasons.

“clowned” is not a word that needs to exist. it will only encourage things to start having the property of being clowned.
November 16, 2009 at 3:20 pm
#36 grodelated – Agreed. The verbing of nouns should not apply when discussing creepy clowns.
That said, I would buy this wreath without the clowns b/c I like kitschy feel of just the fabric balls. Too bad she clowned it up —–(SHIT!)
November 16, 2009 at 3:26 pm
that shop is awesome!! love it!!!!!
November 16, 2009 at 3:28 pm
I just think it would be more regretsy-worthy if the seller intended the wreath to be cute and non-frightening
Like people who sell diaper cakes. http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=31199049

The faces are pointing in all different directions, so no matter where you stand, a clown is staring at you! *sobs*

November 16, 2009 at 5:38 pm
The only thing that would make this creepier is if instead of clown faces, reborn infant heads were used.
November 16, 2009 at 5:45 pm
When you absolutely, positively don’t want solicitors or trick-or-treaters to knock on your door….
November 16, 2009 at 6:43 pm

I keep waking up screaming. I wonder why.
November 21, 2009 at 3:10 pm
