I fucking hate anyone who thinks shit like this is cool.
I’m sure that the person who used to own those bones wouldn’t appreciate them being attached to a mannequin with a cat skull for a head.
I went to the website that this sick bitch lists as her supplier and not only did they offer actual human skeletons, they cost into the thousands of dollars. However the replicas are relatively cheap, leading me to believe that she’s lying about the authenticity of the bones. (considering she’s only charging $250)
So that conclusion makes me feel better about the whole level of disrespect going on but now I’m ticked because of false advertising.
I was just about to post that, Artsnark. What a deal! And for $200 you can get a grab bag (for cadaver dog training). Bones may be greasy, cut or damaged. Yay!!
And, you think using bones in art or on dolls is gross? It’s nothing new, human hair, humand and animal bones, etc have been used since the first doll was made long ago!
Actually, I don’t find the use of such things creepy. Yep, we’ve been making stuff with human bits for a long time. What *I* find disturbing is that human bits are for SALE, on the internet, and end up in things like dolls and “goth jewellery”.
It’s like a new era in grave digging.
this doll is gross, but the misogynistic tone i’m picking up is equally disturbing let’s leave the “bitch” and her bust out of this. The craptastic crafts can stand on their own without all that.
Possible things to do with dead bodies:
1. Burn them.
2. Bury them.
3. Donate them to science.
No no no no no no no to craft projects. Didn’t these people ever read that story where the lady feeds her husband a dead man’s liver, and the dead man comes back the next night to get it? This is far worse.
i honestly don’t know what is more strange… this doll or the fact that these 2 things might actually exist (and that the etsy seller recommends them):
Winter 09 issue of Girls and Corpses magazine; and
the 7th Annual Altered Barbie Exhibit in San Francisco.
its always about how people look, never about their art. no longer can artists just *be*, they must always look perfect because people like you guys will rip apart their lips and tits.
I would totally donate my bones to art. I don’t care for that reaper doll, but I saw a skull in a tattoo parlor once and thought, “Hey, who wants to be turned in ash when you could be a kick-ass tchotchke instead?”
Bill. If I turned your mothers bones into “art” how would you feel? If she’s dead she shouldn’t give a crap, but she’s still your mother. These bones supposedly belonged to someones child, mother or father.
That’s what I take issue with.
And yes creepydolls, I am perfect. If YOU don’t like shit posted on this site, you don’t have to come visit us.
My dad passed away 10 months ago, and if anyone had used his bones for “art” I’d be deeply offended!! Unless the person specifies that they want their bones used in such a way in their will before death then it should NOT be used as such.
And as for boobs and lips… Hey, you post a pic like that and it’s bound to get some attention. Sorry, but if you are selling things and trying to be professional you should not be advertising your stuff with yer boobs!
This is gross, but the photo of her making the sexy time pout with her collagen-injected lips while pushing her boobs together is the real star of that shop.
Why is everyone acting as if these bones were obtained via stealing people’s corpses? They were obtained by legal means, meaning that the person the bones belonged to gave consent for them to be used after they died/had an operation that resulted in the removal of bone.
Mackerel- The site that the bones are purchased from specializes in providing bones for medical, teaching, and legal purposes. Those are the reasons that people are signing up for when they donate their bodies. I think if they realized what kind of whack jobs have access to their bones.
For true perfection, the bottom of the pendant needs to be a “Hello Kitty”.
And I agree that human remains should get more respect. If you donate to science or teaching, that’s fine by me. And also if you consent to or request art use, that’s cool. But did anyone really consent to having their bones sold to strangers for craft projects? I suspect some companies may not be acting ethically.
This is clearly designed to be placed in carports — in order to scare neighborhood cats away from sleeping on the just driven-warmth of your freshly washed automobile.
‘What do you think of my Volvo now, muthafuka?! Yeah, that’s what I thought.’
I think it’s kind of cool. Not with the stained greasy look and the unhemmed clothes though…
I don’t know why she has to use human rigs though. Where would you even get human bones from? Other ribs would work just as well.
I didn’t know you could get human bones legally. Interesting.
I’m not going to criticize her boobs, her lips or even the art when there are far more extreme gross art pieces out there in internationally respected galleries (Damien Hirst, Chapman brothers etc) BUT I don’t know why any individual would want actual human remains in their home. That to me is the weirdest part !
There is a seller on Etsy who uses flowers left at cemetaries in her work. I think she turns them into hairclips or something. I thought that was crossing a line but this is a brand new low.
As a large breasted woman, my reaction to the cleavage shot was “What would it feel like to have human remains wedged in there?” and “I know some guys are into tan lines, but if I were selling something, I’d really want the skin tone to be more even.”
I imagine a lot of people in the medical field would have a disconnection from bones and breathing humans, so I can see there would be a market for this stuff as novelty items.
..because I’m a wordy cow who likes to rattle on and on…especially about myself..
I hope someone does use my body for art when I die, good or bad, I don’t care, hell leave me out in a field and use me as a pee post for dogs, better than being buried or burned, how completely ordinary that would be. Same goes for my mother. So if you don’t want me making crappy art out of your bones don’t leave them lying around, otherwise I’m super gluing some googly eyes to your left femur.
Love,…
i wonder if GA and TN’s restrictions on human remains have anything to do with that crematorium case from ten years ago? it was discovered that a crematorium director for the tri-state area had been dumping the bodies on his property, instead of actually cremating them as he’d been paid to do, and was instead just filling the urns with concrete dust. there were no laws regarding the mistreatment of human remains at the time, so they could only charge him with fraud and theft.
I could not find on that website where they get the human remains from? India? Russia? Like the ‘real human hair’ that’s been taken from tempels in India? Or did they do their own gravedigging?
I’m not disturbed about the human bones or anything. I am disturbed that somewhere, someone looked at a stack of human ribs and thought to themselves “you know, I could attach those to a cat skull, stick a dress on it and sell it for $250″. I thought I was deranged, but wow.
“how completely ordinary that would be!”
oh yes, and it is so completely unordinary to try to make loads of money by breaking some kind of taboo.
if it wasn’t for disrespecting people’s wishes to donate their remains to science (i’m pretty sure no one wrote some declaration that said ” i want to donate my dead body to a crafter to make money with creepy dolls”), it would just be a big YAWN
oh, and here in germany i think people have problems with using human remains for stuff because the nazis used to make lampshades and soap out of the skin of jews killed in concentration camps.
yeah, it has been done forever, why not keep doing it since we don’t have access to any artificial materials that look/function in exactly the same way?
“#51 AgoutiAvenger : I imagine a lot of people in the medical field would have a disconnection from bones and breathing humans, so I can see there would be a market for this stuff as novelty items.”
You imagine incorrectly. “A lot of people in the medical field” do *not* have a “disconnection from bones and breathing humans”
it is illegal to have human remains in tennessee? what if it is your own remains??? i live in memphis and had some surgery and insisted on keeping the souvenirs.
of course, i turned them into a sampler and sold it.(j/k)
For some reason I am more upset about the cat skull, it seems to me that the people died naturally, when they were supposed to. Who knows what happened to the cat, was it sacrificed for art?
I have just spend far too much time researching A.) where to buy authentic bones and B.) United States laws on the possession of human remains. If nothing else, this Etsy listing at least made me more knowledgeable in the ever-important arena of human remain ownership.
Yeah, count me as more offended by the results/intent than the materials themselves. If it were very personal and expressive, truly artistic, that would in my mind be different. The remains would have to somehow be meaningful, too, though. Hopefully not your victims, but, I don’t know, a relative’s lock of hair of course would be totally different than stranger’s bones… now I’m rambling and making less sense- but I totally understand that others will be grossed out no matter what, though.
And I agree if she’s posting a pic like that with her boobs and puckery swollen collagen lips, she is clearly looking o get attention with them, and comment on them is fair game. It’s not like she has to show cleavage to display the necklace. She could wear a turtleneck shirt or something, if she wants to show it on her.
Anyway, her tits are pretty nice, I think. But those lips are awful.
Oh, hell. I just read the shop description now. Several of her dolls are featured in Girls and Corpses magazine! Wow! Now that’s a friggin honor indeed!
ok, she can’t help that she has bloated vagina lips, but that boob pucker is definitely on purpose.
funny, the thing i am most upset about here is the incongruence between the old, aged bones and the very new fabric made to clothe them. :/
“#51 AgoutiAvenger : I imagine a lot of people in the medical field would have a disconnection from bones and breathing humans, so I can see there would be a market for this stuff as novelty items.
My Anatomy class had access to human bones and a cadaver lab. We were warned in the beginning to treat them with the utmost respect, because a living breathing person gave of themselves so we could learn. Also immediate dismissal and abuse of a corpse charges would be filed if anything happened.
1. I thought Anne Rice was making that shit up in “The Witching Hour”. I guess I stand corrected.
2. What happens if your dog gets hold of them? What if the Schnauzer runs off and decides to bury said “artwork” in a neighbor’s yard? Or if your cuddly pug chokes on the bones? (I’d think that would be a tough one to explain to the vet.) The possibilities are limitless.
3. Not to mention what would happen if a senile grandparent decided to make some soup and noticed them just lying…
1.i cannot believe how many people are offended by this.the left over remains are exactly that “left over”.To those who have no significant religious beliefs i can see how hanging on to a sack of bones or ashes may give comfort to some.
2.i also have noticed that the people who hate and try to belittle others quality’s are usually insecure about their own FLAT chest or pencil lips.If she wants to show it let her. i see no one ripping on you because your covered up.
3.This was made for me.
This is a little bit bizarre, I must say. Never in my entire life have I ever seen anything quite like this. I’m not sure if this is considered art or a piece of bones. I would not want that in my house.

That’s pretty damn disrespectful.

#9 NinjaGato : I went digging (oh, the irony) and discovered that their ribs bones are $6 each http://www.skullsunlimited.com/human-post-cranial.html
So it is possible that they are real.

Nice giant fish lips in that “necklace” listing. Maybe she should cut them off and stick them on her next doll.

The idea of using human bones for display, and craftwork (although for a religious purpose) such as candelabras and wall decorations has been around for a very long time, like the ‘Bone Church’ in in Kutná Hora. http://www.kostnice.cz/ or the Mělník ossuary.
http://www.outsideprague.com/melnik/melnik_bone_church.html
But for the grim reaper? I thought he was sitting on a wickerwork chair at first, instead of the ribs being ‘wings.’
